Karkei, slightly more awake, shuffled into the mess. She collected the usual inedible slop and headed towards her army's table. She began to eat mechanically, gaining energy with every bite. When she felt awake enough to hold a conversation, she spoke up. "Um, commander, do we have a scheduled practice for today?"

Order glanced up, "Two toon vs two toons. So that way, you won't be so nervous when we actually start battling. Every once in a while I'll switch the teams so be prepared to fight along side with someone you may not like."

Order finished up and threw away his tray and finished his drink in one quick gulp.
He slammed the cup on the table.
"All right Flame, im going to head up to the quarters to get changed for battle, you had better do the same too, or you'll miss practice, no one wants to miss practice..." he said putting away his cup and heading to the door.

Across the mess Lex sat with his army eating lunch. "We've got another practice right after free time. Which starts after we eat. So enjoy it."

"Great! I missed yesterday's practice. What will we be doing? Toon vs Toon? Individual work?" Vic said this all very fast. She couldn't wait to be in null-g again. And she'd never practiced with an army before, just her Launch Group.

"We'll be working in teams but no more scrimmages for awhile. We are gonna work on skills before moving to actually battling and refining them. And don't worry, you didn't miss much the last practice." said Lex as he got up and threw out his tray.
"All of you are free for one hour. After that, suit up and meet me in the Battle Room. If your late, you'll run laps."

Connor sat at the table eating while Lex gave a brief outline of what they could expect in their next practice session. Skills work. Fair enough. It might not be much for him but there were plenty who would need it if they hoped to compete as an army. But in toons of twenty it was going to be a nightmare to organise. He was going to need help, that was for sure. Finishing his food, he stood up and looked around the table at the rest of his toon.
“Alright, guys, you heard the commander. One hour of free time and then practice. That means I want all of you inside the barracks and ready fifteen minutes beforehand. We go as a toon.” Even if it was a crazily gigantic one. “If one of us is late and gets laps, we’re all late and get laps. Think about it and don’t be late.”
Picking up his tray, he started out of the mess but paused for a moment by Lance.

Hilts chuckled silently to himself. "Yeah, don't bother me while I eat." He said eyeing her roll. He reached across the table and broke a piece off it. "Thanks." he said as he stuffed it into his mouth.

Vic was about to make a smart reply, when she saw two people carry a third person past the Mess door. The person being carried had ginger-blond hair. Vic stood up, suddenly very worried. "Tell Lex I might be late for practice." she said, and ran out the door.

Michael and his toon jogged into the mess, still holding their form and wearing their flashsuits. They quickly got their food and sat together near Emory. The conversation was jovial; morale was high. Michael noticed a few Rabbit soldiers leaving the mess as he came in. They noticed him, too, and flashed him a thumbs-up sign as they walked out the door. Michael just shrugged his shoulders when his comrades glanced at him quizzically.

As Scott came in with Anne's toon, he noticed the exchange between the Rabbit soldiers and Toro as well as Toro's seemingly confused response. That reminded him that he had some unfinished business with Tirath, though he knew better than to make a big deal out of anything just now. The present opportunity had passed, but it was best to be prepared for the next one.

Emory thought about what he would do in the afternoon practice. He thought about formations and Beylion. He finished his food then got up and threw out his tray. Emory was always a fast eater.
"Pheonix army listen up. I want you to finish and head back to the barracks in fiften minutes. Classes start in about forty five and I wanted to talk to you all. So finish soon."
He nodded to the toon leaders then wlked back to the barracks.

Arael sat with his toon and began to eat quickly. He chowed through whatever they had put on his tray that day and sat back at his seat.
"So what do you think he wants to talk to us about?" asked Arael. "I hope its not another speech about Bey being gone and all. I want to get on with our training."
He was waiting and willing to prove himself in combat. He couldn't wait until his first battle.

Michael finished quickly and let out a loud belch. Most of his toon laughed, but a few of the older boys, and more of the girls, just gave him a dirty look. So he did it again, though not quite as loudly as the first time. When it appeared that all his soldiers had finished, he marshalled them off to the barracks. That gave them about half an hour before classes would start.
Scott saw him go, and was getting close to finished himself. "What is it with him?" he thought out loud without meaning to. He pushed back his plate, stood up, and took everything to the trash. Upon returning, he sat and asked Anne, "Leader, are we going back soon?"

Anne nodded as she swallowed the last of her food. She glanced around at her toon,, making sure they were almost done. Seeing they were, she stood up.
"Ready?" everyone who still had food quickly finished and nodded "Let's go then" she led her toon out of the mess.

Arteman and Aryl arrived in the cafeteria, they got their food and sat down at an empty table. "So, who do you think is going to win the tournament?" Arteman asked Aryl. "Uh, me." Aryl responded, smiling. "If it isn't you." Arteman said, slightly annoyed. "That's a hard one." Aryl said. "I think Karkei has a good chance, that said, I haven't seen everyone in action, so I can't easily tell." "So, you didn't pick ME as your second choice." Alistair said, sitting down, and pretending to be offended. "You'll lose in the first round." Aryl said, casually. "We'll see about that." Alistair muttered.

"Sometimes... I miss earth's cuisine," Chaos commented sadly, sitting at an empty table and looking at the food. Sadly, the disturbing space food reminded him of the countless homeless shelters. He mentally took note of every person in the room, absorbing every tidbit of data that might be considered necesary; medical issues of opposing armies, battle room performances, possible tactical plans.
It was a skill he'd perfected, an intelligence gatherer that was neither seen nor heard. Chaos analyzed each piece, but quickly halted himself with a shake of the head; lifitng the plastic spoon to inspect the food before he ate it.
He cringed at the taste, but swallowed it none the less. Chaos watched as other soldiers from the flame barracks took formation in the lunch line. Boy and girls, different weight, height and ages... all thrown into a military school used to produce future leaders for 'the people's' military force.
The thought made him slightly sick to his stomach, lowering the spoon and staring at the mush. 'I'm here... so they don't have to pull another kid,' That thought a lone made him quickly attack his meal with the plastic spoon.

Order leaned back in his chair, just a little.
"Yes but a stratagy can also lead to a un fortunate fate, even if yours is good, if you don't know how to do it, you can easily be beaten. But aside from that, for im sure we could get into a thousand arguements about it, I just want every one to remember that there is no need for over zealous atempts to cheat or any thing. I want a fair game and thats it. Cheating may get you transfered from this army, and that will never be good."
He looked around at some of the new soldiers.
"Are the new flames going to try out for the leader position? It's always worth a shot at least."

"Thanks for the concern. I just want to be better already" she glanced around the table. Most of her toon, was looking worriedly at her, as if expecting her to suddenly pass out. She shook her head.
"Who in Toon D wants to try out for toon leader?" several people raised their hand.

"Are the new flames going to try out for the leader position? It's always worth a shot at least," Order had questioned, Chaos only half listening as he was busy studying each flame soldier. He actually considered it for a moment, a chance to test the tactical skills he'd been studying.
But he stopped himself when looking at the other soldiers; there were others greater than him, others that wanted it and tried harder than him for it. Chaos didn't find it right to take away all hope, settling for leaning back and listening to each soldier call off who was going to compete.
He maintained silence during the ordeal, listening a little more atentively to the table's discussions.
