Gronze entered the lunch room and looked for a guy wearing the flame colors. He found a whole table of the same color and came up to the biggest guy.

"Hey sir, are you the commander of Flame? If so, i'll be right back im starving! By the way Im Meat!" He said waiting for the commander to say yes, and the second he would he would run into the lunch line.

"Well Yeah...-Meat ran off.

He looked at the slip, even though Meats real name is Gronze, he could understand how he got the name meat.

He continued the talk.

Aryl looked at Meat.
"Hey, new guy," She said, as if she was NOT both smaller and younger than him "What kind of name is Meat?"
Arteman hit her in the back of the head, she whipped around.
"What was that for!" she shouted.
"Don't be rude." He said.
"What are you, my dad?" She said, jokingly.
"No just your friend." He said.
"A friend who doubles as a parent." She said, hitting him in the back of the head.
"Ahem." Alistair said, "Could you two stop flirting for a minute, it's annoying."
Arteman and Aryl glared at him, Alistair shut up. If only because he knew that Arteman was 4 inches taller than him, and knew how to use that height to his advantage.

Phoenix Army, Day 003, 1230h

Michael took his tray and found a table under the scoreboard that nobody was using. He sat down with his back to the wall and mindlessly nibbled at the food on his plate. He thought of home and of space, of family and of buggers. He wondered if there were any other species in the galaxy besides humans and buggers. If there were, did the buggers try to annihilate them, too? Were any of them friendly?

In the middle of his reverie, a Rabbit sat down across from him. With a big grin, Alan said, "I told you I'd fix him up." Michael took a spoonful of potatoes and flung it at Alan. It missed and landed on the Flame soldier sitting behind him. As the Flame turned around angrily, Michael pointed at Alan and said, "It was him." The Flame tried to reach across the table at Michael, but his reach wasn't long enough. "Don't treat me like I'm stupid," he barked. "Next time you try something like that, you won't be rising from your ashes." He went back to his table without another gesture.

"What's with you, Bull?"

"I told you not to do anything harsh. Everything would have been fine if you'd just left well enough alone."

"Well, sorreeee. Try to help a guy out, and look at the thanks you get."

"Don't be like that, Alan. I appreciate what you tried to do. But now everyone thinks I'm a traitor."

"Why don't you put in for a transfer? Koji's a cool commander, maybe you could be in Rabbit."

"And prove everyone right? And I'd look like a quitter besides. And there's no way I'd get another chance at leading a toon. I didn't tell you, I got to keep the position."

"Well, congratulations. I gotta scram. If things don't get any better, think about it, alright?"

"Sure, Alan. See ya later."

Michael watched Alan wave backwards as the others from his own army started coming in.

Emory walked in and saw Toro eating alone at a table. Then he saw a rabbit come over, then leave. He looked back and thought of Scott. He scanned the room and saw Koji eating over at another table. Emory held in his emotions and walked over to Koji. He went to the other side of his table and looked at him with his cold grey eyes. "You got a lot of nerve, lettin your soilders mess with mine."he said as he towered over some of the smaller rabbits.

Anne followed Tony and Luc in. Emory was over at the Rabbit Table, talking to the commander. No, 'talking' wasn't right, some of the smaller Rabbit soldiers were clearly a little scared. She shook her head, and grabbed Tony's arm when he moved towards Emory. Tony glared at her.

"Leave him be" she warned

"He's our commander"

"Right, so trust him on this"

Tony nodded and reluctantly got into line for food. Mush, biscuits, and more mush were tossed onto their plates. Anne sat by Toro. Tony and Luc sat on the other end or the table.

"Please don't tell me Emory is doing something stupid" Anne said to Toro.

Tirath walked over to the table with his food, still a little up set about the sash thing, yet he ignored it.

"Knowing Emory, it's probably just a misunderstanding, or maybe a mixture of both." He laughed a little to him self, and then glanced at his food, it took the smile away from his mouth.

"We need a giant "Pizza" space station next to Battle School. That would make things so much better." He said as he took a spoon full of the 'stuff' and put it in his mouth.

His face cringed with disgust. "Or at least get some better cooks?"

Koji Fujiyama had been the commander of Rabbit Army for almost 6 months. Usually, he'd be eating lunch in the Commander's Mess, but today he had been feeling nauseous since breakfast and didn't want to embarrass himself in front of the other commanders. It didn't help his mood any that he had a history test this morning which he failed miserably. He knew the answers, but he just couldn't get them on paper.

Overall, he was pleased with his army. Outside the battleroom, he more or less left them alone. But when they had their flashsuits on, it was discipline all the way. There would always be ways they could perform better, and Koji was always on guard for their weak spots. Rabbit was in 11th place on the big board, and there was 1 Rabbit in the top 10 of the individual stats.

Now, this upstart Phoenix commander, who hadn't even had his job for a full day, had the nerve to come to him and tell him how to run his army? As incredulous as Koji felt, he responded with a joke as he always did outside the battleroom. "Greetings, commander, and congratulations on your promotion. I suggest you step back a bit; these little bunnies might crap on your nice clean shoes. In fact, I'm feeling kinda pukey myself, and we wouldn't want to get you into a mess, if you know what I mean." Koji pretended to vomit in Emory's general direction, which made the soldiers with him relax and laugh. Then Koji realized that maybe that wasn't such a good idea as his stomach voiced its displeasure. Taking a few deep breaths and still seated, he asked, "Now, commander, what can I help you with?"

>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>><<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<< <<

Michael was still toying with his food when his comrades joined him at the table under the scoreboard. At Anne's question, he noticed for the first time that Emory was talking to someone who appeared to be the commander of Rabbit Army. He thought it odd that a victorious commander would be eating in the soldier's mess, but then, Alan had said that Koji was cool. Before he had a chance to answer, Tirath sat down and started joking. Michael noticed his eye immediately but said nothing. "We never had pizza much at home. But it sure was good when we did. Do any of you all know how to make it? Maybe we could storm the kitchen and serve up some real food for a change."

Emory smiled sacasticly. "You know, I heard you were a good commander, and I can see that you are. Number 11 on the score board. That is just incredible.Wow." Emory said in a joking manor.

"But you know what I think. For being such a higly respected army, your soilders are treating that honor like s***. You call attacking one of my best soilder and minipulating another, honor."

At this he chuckled. "Wow. Should I be taking notes?"

Tirath noticed that the chat between Emory and the commander of another army seemed to be turning sour by the second, and on Emory's tounge mostly.

"I have a feeling we may have to intervene with that conversation though, better safe then sorry, no?"

Then he thought about what Toro had said, it sounded good, if only someone knew how to make pizza. He was no cooking specialist. Tirath got up and threw away his tray. He heard a comment come from Emory. Tirath walked back and sighed.

"Yeah, if that commanders a REAL nice guy, we might avoid conflict, but most arn't."

On any other day, Koji might have enjoyed a bit of banter, even though the Phoenix commander was being obnoxiously sarcastic. He breathed deeply, closing his eyes, to fight down the nausea that was trying to take over his body. When the wave passed, he opened his eyes and asked quietly, "Commander, I can tell you care deeply about your soldiers. That's quite commendable. Demo, your sarcasm wa taihen annoying desu. Another commander less benevolent than myself might make that a reason to make you a target. Now, why don't you tell me from the beginning what you are talking about? Perhaps we are simply seeing things from two different points of view."

Emory's eyes borred into Koji's. He calmed and and explained. "Koji, I have nothing against your army. But having some of your soilders attack one of mine is not something I will tolorate. I have to ask you to keep your soilders in check." As he said this his eyes came to look at Alan. He was one of the boys that had been pointed out to him. But he just looked back at Koji.

Anne remembered the kitchen back home vividly. She could still remember where everything was. The kitchen was where all the kids spent their spare time, in between researching, school, and of course, their war. They'd learned how to make a variety of food, including pizza. Thick, delicious pizza. Anne could hardly believe she remember the recipe. 3 1/2 cups of flour, two packets of yeast, cheese- LOTS of cheese. Anne smiled,

"I know how to make pizza, if they let me near a kitchen"

"Intresting, we have a cook on our hands, and the talk seemed to lighten up. Two good things within seconds. Now all I have to do is talk to one of the lunch lady's and we can get behind the counter."

He grinned, he knew how to be manipulative, when he wanted to be. Thats how he got out of trouble all the time, he would swirl the person with words, and make it difficult to understand, then talk about another meaning, which would throw the person off, then switch back and talk about how un-fair it is.

If your good, you'll talk about what happened that was bad, and talk about something that was good at the same time.

For example if you got introuble for talking too much in class, go talk to their leader and talk to them about, how "you talked alot, to the teacher, asking her for help. Yes I talked to my friends but mostly the teacher." this works well all the time, most people fall for it, because they can't switch it around fast enough, unless they repeat it over and over again.

However there was always someone better then him at it. He was sure, yet it was worth a try, maybe for dinner, tommorrow.

"Look, commander; I don't usually do this, but I'll make an exception this time because you're new. I'll tell my soldiers to stay away from Phoenix for a while, but I can't watch them everywhere they go. I suggest you take some of your practice time and get some assertiveness and self-defense training for your soldiers who are getting harrassed. We Rabbits like to joke around and play pranks from time to time, but there are a lot of other armies in this school who play rough just to strut their stuff. You aren't going to get the same cooperation from them as you're getting from me. Now, if you'll excuse me, I...." Koji didn't have a chance to finish his sentence. He was about to tell Emory that he was going to be sick, but the stream of vomit that surrounded Emory's feet made the words unnecessary. One of the other Rabbit soldiers at the table, trying to be funny, raised his hand and shouted, "Clean up on aisle 5!" Koji just got up and stumbled out of the mess, headed towards his room with a few of his charges following behind.

Emory saw the vomit come out of koji's face just in time. He jumped back. He sighed. He's got it comin to him. emory started to walk back when a rabbit launchie commented somthing to him. "Is that the best you can do Emory." he and a couple of his friends laughed.

Emory looked at him. He looked athim with cold eyes. "I never said we had to be nice to you." He walked up to him. He was a good foot and a half taller. "But from where you are standing, I wouldn't talk."

The boy looked away and Emory walked back over to Scott. He sat with him and looked at his hands. Then looked up at him. "I know it may not be the right thing Scott, but if they ever try to be d**** heads to you, pummel them."

Just as the mood was getting better, the Rabbit commander puked. On Emory. He did jump back in time, but there was still vomit all around him. Might as well be on him.

Anne had a feeling this wouldn't end well. Even before she heard Emory talking to Scott. She rested her face in her hands, and wished that her brothers were here. Or at least the little cross they made her. There were three parts to the cross. The long bottom piece, the short upper piece, and a jewel inlay that held it together. She came up with the idea, and had hunted down the right pieces to make it, but nothing was just right. Finally she gave up on it and burried the sketchs of it in her drawers. Her brothers had found it and built the cross for her. Kevin made the small piece, Chris made the bigger one, and they both made the inlay. You could take the cross apart, if it was needed. The three siblings would each take a piece if they had to go someplace away from each other. Anne wanted it not as much for the religious symbol, but as a link to her brothers. Another reason to hate Battle School.

Scott nodded with understanding. He now had a revenge card he could play when the time was appropriate. "Does that only apply to Rabbit, sir?" he asked.

Michael was thinking about pizza. Excitedly, he asked, "Do you think we can pull it off? Even if we don't have the right kind of cheese? The only cheese I've ever seen here is that liquid orange stuff." His mind drifted for a moment. "Come to think of it, do you think they make the teachers and staff eat the same slime they give to us?"

Emory looked hard at him. "Senseless violence isen't a good choice. I will not allow you to go looking for trouble. If the time comes that you are in trouble, then do what you must to defend you are others in our army. And I mean everyone in the army."

Emory thought of Toro but kept his eyes on Scott. "I have a feeling that we are very alone. We may have one army in our aliance, but that will be the most. Don't pick fights, don't start them."

Scott had the answer he was looking for. It would take some time, but in the end, he would have both the power and the position he was looking for. It really didn't matter to him whether he got them through normal channels or by clever manipulations. He responded to Emory with no change in expression, "I agree with you completely, sir; and your point has been made loud and clear. You have my word that I will not start any conflict, and will do my best to protect each and every member of this army from undue violence."

Toro smiled at Anne. This army had been working too hard, with too many struggles at the gate. An innocent diversion was just the prescription. "Tirath, when do you think you can get us into the kitchen? Should we make it just for us, for just our army, or for everybody?"

Michael saw Emory leave and realized he was almost late for his next class. "How about tomorrow's dinner just for Phoenix? We'd need to take enough to make 15 pizzas, I think. Maybe tonight someone could spy on the kitchen to find out where they keep the good stuff they give the teachers. I gotta run to class." He quickly got up, threw away his mostly uneaten food, and went out the same way Emory had. Scott, repulsed by the growing odor of the mess Koji had made, which several lunch workers were trying desperately to clean up, followed Toro out about 20 meters behind.

"15 pizzas? I hope they have a lot of ovens." Anne quickly did figures in her head. It depended on how long they could get back there, but they'd need more people. Three just wouldn't cut it in this case. Ten, maybe. Even then it would be hard, and they might have to skip a class or two. Maybe even practice if Emory would let them.

"How long do you think you can buy us?" she asked Ti.

Darin sat alone at the tables. Darin was not one for interaction. It wasn't because he was vain, but ever since his brother's death Darin barely spoke. He still doesn't.

Class was soon and he hadn't touched his lunch. His stomach growling, Darin merely stared at the dull cafateria food. It was a test. Little games Darin play in his head, that keep him busy and mentally strong. He might be punished for not eating, but it didn't matter much to Darin. The teachers never seemed to notice.

This time the test was easy though. The were plenty of distractions in the mess. The peuk and the abnormal~~ err normal decibel level of his fellow classmates. Darin was dissapointed, his test wasn't difficult, thus Darin was bored.

"As much time as we could possibly need." he said with enthusiasm.

He was glad they might actually get to make pizza in battle school. He glanced over at Toro and the others.

"It only matters on when now. At any time I can try convinceing the teachers. So far the easiest way I could do things is after dinner, just as long as nobody eats any thing."

Tony spotted Anne running, and remembered class.

Once more he wished he could visit Dresco's Deli shop one more time. "Give us this day our daily Dose" Dan said silently. Whilst never really beleiveing in a Religion, Dan and his friends from earth had always been thankful for the small blessings in life, and often imitated the religous types in their thanking.
