This comes from my findings as a comic book fan, and it was some of the most unexpected Marvel news I have ever read:

quote:
"Ultimate Iron Man will launch in 2005 with Andy Kubert as artist. Buckley hinted at Ender’s Game by Orson Scott Card in regards to the title, which lead to parallel lines of speculation, as to whether Card himself will write the series, or if the series will somehow be related to Card’s premise in his novel series."
The news came from this link: http://www.newsarama.com/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=21056

What do you guys think?

My opinion is that the Ender's Game connection to this series will probably be some kind of military training school, or otherwise, Card's taken a huge liking to comics after seeing Spider-Man 2...

I'm having a hard time picturing this.

I mean, overall, his characters and subjects are so deep, I just don't see them translating to comic-book format very well.

But we'll see...

A number of novelists have made the move to comics quite successfully, most notably Brad Meltzer. I do think that OSC's characterization would translate very well. If he is writing comics, I will be buying them! [The Wave]

You need to read more comic books, then. Check out Art Spiegelman's "Maus" and "Maus II" for deep and significantly moving comic books. Check out anything by Harvey Pekar for detailed and depth of character in comic books. For sci-fi/fantasy, there are literraly tons of comics with deep characters, involved plots and so on. It isn't an easy medium to write for, though. Whereas a fictional author will use words to describe a setting or a person's reaction, this will be done by the artwork. The biggest deal is to make dialogue that translate's well to comics. Some do very well at this, like Brian Michael Bendis or Brian K. Vaughn. Others do not. I think Card could do it and his work would do extremely well. An Iron Man concept akin to Ender would be amazing.

I really hope that this is about Card writing Ultimate Iron Man! That would be so cool!

It would be, imo, a can't miss comic!

If its just about Ultimate Iron Man being kind of like it..then hmm. I don't know. Ender's Game is really my least favorite of the Ender books (I think that Ender's Shadow is alot better).

But the hint is pretty vague..so I guess it could be anything.

But not annoucing a writer yet..HMMM.

*crosses fingers*

" Orson Scott Card is fast becoming my favorite book writer. I'd like it a ton if he was writing comics too! I think Ultimate Iron Man would be a really good choice for him! "
