The Caliph can hear any words without harm, but when soldiers are ordered to disobey him, it does not require an imam to explain that treason and blasphemy are present here

Is this a typo or something I just don't understand?

I suspect it's something you don't understand. What was your problem with the scene, Brad?

Basically, the Caliph -- Alai -- has been set up as a figurehead by Muslim fundamentalists. Peter and Petra set up a situation in which he is prompted to openly defy his shadowy masters in front of soldiers sworn to obey him. Those masters, who are accustomed to holding the real power, attempt to countermand his orders -- foolishly, of course, but credibly.

An imam is an Islamic religious teacher and leader. Some are very powerful.
