hello i'm Joe. i'm not much of a orson scott card fan. i didn't like the profanity on ender's game. my grandma let me listen to it on cd while moving to west virginia. anyway i heard he wrote for marvel's ultmate iron man. and majesco's advent rising.i also heard he sign a deal with dc comics. i was wounding what comics he ben working on for dc comics? i was wounding if anyone knew when mr.card would be going on a book tour. i live in the east coast and i'm going to see if i can get mr.card to do a fireside for the single adults.thank you for your time. sincerly, Joe d:)

yeah your right it's a mormon thing. i check and it's about 5 hours to west virginia to Greensboro, NC. so he's not too far. the farest place he's going is new zealand. but i check the calendar and i guess it's too early for the year to go to west virginia. by the way can anyone tell me if it's true that mr.card is going to doing some dc comics? and if so which series? i know he's going a two parter of ultimate iron man. -Joe:)

thanks kacard, i read in some forum he was making a deal with dc comics. i'm going to try to pick up ultimate iron man this month. i can't wait for advent rising.does anyone know mr.card's e-mail address or snail mail address? i like to contact him and see if he will like to go to a fireside. i think the reason he doesn't go to west virginia book signing is because there isn't any mormon book stores there is a christian book store. thanks, Joe:)

Me: This is a very interesting statement. Has someone who is LDS and who has studied this idea said this to you? Is this just a personal observation? Having grown up LDS, I can't think of a single moment where someone made this idea explicit. It's an interesting idea that I'll have to chew on for a while.
I suspect that closer to the truth is that we all have our vices and things we are differentially sensitive too. I don't think that Mormons are more violent or more attracted to violent content than anyone else, and would suspect the opposite to be the case, if anything...that is not to say they are dramatically different either way. I'll keep chewing on it.

sorry about that i should of remember his books are not much christian so i guess he doesn't go to mormon or christian book stores. i know he wrote a few christian books and a few books about women in history. we have a books-a-millions and a borders book store near me. so it would be great if he could go to those.i heard orson scott card is mormon but i notice in his ender's game book he said some Profanity in it. yes we try to not to swear a few do. some of my friends in california who were mormon swear. we mormons are nothing speical we try to act christ like. but we do samethings as non-mormons. by the way i'm still looking for mr.card's snail mail address since he hides his e-mail address.

You do realize that having a character swear isn't the same as the author himself swearing, right? Just as having a character kill people doesn't mean that the author does that.

No worries. The "C" is for Chris (well, technically, Christopher I suppose) which is my real first name. I'm working on a career as a writer - fantasy/sci-fi, which will no doubt shock and amaze all - and I decided early on that I didn't want an alliterative name on my work... it has always kinda bugged me that both parts of my name start with the same letter; it makes me feel like a character from an old comic book.
So I decided to use the Patrick, which is my Catholic confirmation name, and the initial C. I don't actually have a legal middle name (there's a funny story behind that, but I won't get inot it right now) so that's how I ended up with C. Patrick Carolan.

Usually, yeah, AntiCool. It's not a legal thing; your confirmation name doesn't show up on your driver's liscence, birth certificate, social insurance, etc.
To be honest I'm not sure what the point of the practice of taking a confimration name is. I'm pretty far removed from the Catholic aspect of my life so I don't know as much about the technicalities of the sacraments as I did when I was in school (Catholic school, of course). Aside from weddings, funerals and the like, I haven't visited a Church in probably nine years or so.
