quote: Three commanders were graduating soon, including Petra, but it was beyond hope for them to give him Phoenix Army- no one ever succeeded to command of the same army he was in when he was promoted.
And then on page 139, before Ender says the above, we find that:
quote:Dink Meeker had finally accepted commandand succeeding Rose the Nose in Rat Army's command.
Wasn't Dink in Rat? So that means that Dink succeeded command of the army he was in when he was promoted?

Yeah, that's been pointed out many a time here at Hatrack, along with many others. Not like there's anything he can do about it now.

I can't really say that I see why it nags you...

I didn't mean it nags me. I meant it is stuck in my head making fun of me and it won't go away. Its just bugs me a little.

I just mean that as far as mistakes go, that's a pretty minor one. I can actually think of a few other ones throughout the Ender and Shadow books which are more significant. They've all been addressed before, so I won't go pointing them out again.

Try exagerration... He was pretty much pointing out that it was unlikely.

I always chalked it up to everything just going haywire at battle school at the time.

Then there's always the possibility that he has transferred out of Rat first...? Because he definately WAS in Rat... He practically commanded Rat. Or at least 'had something to do' with why they were winning.

No one ever could likely just mean that it rarely happens. And Dink was exceptional.

But then wouldn't it have made more sense for it to say almost no one?
