Hopefully this qualifies as a discussion about Mr. Card. I have recently read the first book of the Mayflower Trilogy, Lovelock. However, it would seem the second and third book of the trilogy have yet to be released. I was simply hoping for confirmation either way. Perhaps they will be released soon (and yes, I did look in the Latest Releases section)? Or perhaps they already have and I'm not looking hard enough?

They haven't been written yet.

Ah, that's a shame...

I wrote in a few days ago with the same question. I think he is not satisfied with the current writing of book 2, and for some reason it is on hold. I had hoped Mr. Card would write in and give a status report. (Hope springs eternal.) Sadly, it did not happen. I am looking forward to the continuing saga.

Me too- Lovelock was one of the best co-authored books I've seen in quite some time. Typically, I don't even read co-authored books for the fact that details are often sketchy, two perceptions were attempting to coexist in one place. But Card and Kid did an exceptional job, really. Seamless, and personally quite meaningful. I've purchased Lovelock (and I don't often buy books unless I intend to reread them several times over) and happen to be rather disappointed that we'll have to wait. But, if Mr. Card was disappointed with the product, one must trust his opinions.

It's all my fault. They made me write other books instead. Sorry, Kathy ...

^_^ I'll just have to read your other books then.

I just finished reading LOVELOCK last night - I had picked it up in a used book store. I thoroughly enjoyed it and am so disappointed that the remainder of the trilogy has not yet been published! Hope it is in the near future. Anyone have any idea of the status of book II?

OK, it's been a couple years since the last post on the subject of the Mayflower Trilogy... (at least, as far as I could find using the Search feature). Are there any updates on the status of book 2 in the trilogy? Thanks.

Well, a couple of years ago at a book signing Card said (as I heard it) that they realized they were going about it all wrong and restarting Rasputin. Well, more to the point, he/they realized the characters they were focusing on were not likeable in a way that helped them want to continue writing the story.

That's kinda funny to me, because, and this isn't a complaint, I didn't really find any of the characters in Lovelock to be very likable. They were all so seriously flawed that while I would find myself liking one character or another, they would turn around and do something horrible, or a disturbing character trait would emerge. Maybe I liked the grandfather, but only at the end. Again, though, this isn't a criticism. The flaws made the characters seem much more real, as is common in OSC books.

Okay, we'll, maybe there was a different word used such as "despicable" or "can't stand". I don't know.

Just 'cause I don't find 'em likable don't mean nobody else done do it. They may well have used "likable", "despicable", "can't standable" or "hooker" for all I know.

Lovelock is seventeen miles east of Trinity, on I-80. It overlooks the Big Meadow and the Humbolt Sink and is the gateway to the Forty-Mile Desert. You shouldn't have to hunt very far.
