In ES, the lady at the soup kitchen in Rotterdam (Helga?) tells Sister Carlotta that she was the one who named Achilles, because of his injured leg. At the end of Shadow Puppets, his grave is labeled "Achilles de Flandres." At what point did he get a last name? Could it have been given to him by Helga also, or was it picked up later? Also, does "de Flandres" mean anything? "Of" something/someone?

Achilles is from Belgium, which used to be called Flanders/Flandres.

"of" and "from" are the same word in French, "de".
