My local Wal-Mart has set out a table of bargain books with prices ranging from $2-7. I discovered that a hardback of copy of Crystal City was sitting on the table. But I had no money. And my mother refused to purchase it for me. So I may have missed out on the bargain of a lifetime. Now I ask you, will I ever find that book so cheap again? And I mean a new copy.

That's the WalMart price for a remaindered book. But if you buy it from us, you get it signed - PLUS the warm glow of knowing you're helping support this website <grin>.

I would definitely support this site over the evilness that is Wal-Mart.

How much is it? And will my parents use a credit card to get it? The first one I can find out on my own. The second is slightly more difficult.

Edit: Without shipping and handling the signed copy is nearly as cheap as Wal-Mart. That makes it very tempting. Maybe I'll ask for it. Maybe if I do phenomenal on some test or something that can be a reward. [Big Grin]

Edit of the Edit: It really is tempting. But I haven't read the Alvin Maker books after Red Prophet . I might get it anyway. It would be even neater if I could all of the ones I haven't read cheap and signed. But that is completely unrealistic.

You could always buy it and put it on your shelf until you catch up...

I'm thinking I might do that. I showed it to my mom. She said she would think about it. But she also said she would think about getting me a velociraptor and that never happened.

Steve, dude, did you not get a summer job?

Tell your mom that at least your not asking for a $60 video game. Otherwise the holidays are just a few short months away.

I can't believe you put that link up. First of all, you can find a way better copy of crystal city on ebay that is in WAY better condition. Second, like has all ready been said you can get the hardback off this site signed for the price of a paperback.

kq- Two things:

1) I was not quite old enough for a job.

2) I was gone all of the summer except for a week here and there every now and then.

Crystal City came out like two years ago. Is there even more than one edition out there?

Just showing other options out there, in case he hadn't considered ebay. I'm sure they have ones in better condition. I agree though, this site would be the way to go.

There is a paperback edition. And it still has my name wrong in the credits. [Smile] Just goes to show even good editors don't know everything. I have the only correct copy of the book in existence because OSC graciously hand corrected it for me.

And yet in another thread he says that authors are 'notoriously bad' at selling their own books.

Uhhuh, tell us another one. [Wink]
