I was at Borders today, and I was browsing through the electronic touch pad things in the music section of the store. Since you can also browse books on there, I typed in Orson Scott Card and looked at what books they had listed. They have about 300 OSC items listed, a good amount of which being repeats of other items under different names (Ex. Enders game = Enders series book #1). And I came across some oddities. OSC must have made it abundantly clear there was only going to be one more Alvin Maker book, because I chuckled when I found one of his book titles being listed as "Last Alvin Book". Another something I came across was a hardcover copy of "Shadow series book #5", going for $200 that you could order. I found that a little weird. I just thought I'd share this with you guys.

If you order through the links at the top of this page, an angel gets its wings, AND you can support Hatrack.

Haha, yes, well, I was more pointing out the fact of those anomalies than anything else. But I suppose you are referring to the fact that I was in a book store? Books stores have a certin welcoming allure that websites tend to lack. Not saying I don't support the ol' Hatrack though. [Big Grin]

Vive les bookstores.

Amazon is a great boon - for gift-giving, for finding and ordering obscure books, etc. BUT it is a supplement to, not a replacement for, the bookstore where you hang out and browse and happen upon wonderful things that catch your eye in a way that Amazon tries to but cannot quite match.

The $200 Shadow series book is certainly mislabeled; there are expensive signed-limited versions, and it must be for one of the earlier ones.

Yes, supplement is a perfect word for that.
