I should state that I am NOT a normal listener to Rush and I often disagree with him, though I do find he has salient points on occasion.

Rush covered OSC today. www.rushlimbaugh.com for more details. Very positive coverage and Rush was impressed with his writing (surprise, surprise). I sent the following to Mr. Limbaugh via email:

Mr. Limbaugh,

My wife heard the beginning of your coverage of the Orson Scott Card letter and called me immediately. I was able to listen to a portion of your show; enough to hear you say you didn’t know who he is.

Mr Card is one of the finest science fiction authors currently alive. It is my personal belief that he is the best fiction author (note the lack of the sci-fi tag here) currently writing.

His primary webpage is located at: http://www.hatrack.com/. If you have not read any of his works, I can highly recommend “Ender’s Game” in the original short story version. If you would like to delve further into his realm and see more of his ideas (similar to what you saw in his letter today), try the longer version of Ender’s Game, in full novel form. The follow-up works to Ender’s Game speak volumes about his character and beliefs. While this is not always true of authors, it has been my finding that common themes run throughout his works, specifically related to personal responsibility and love of the family. I say this simply because he has stated much the same in his commentary concerning his own work.

I had no idea that he considered himself affiliated in any way with the Democratic Party, but I was glad to hear his stance on the current state of that Party today. It has elevated my respect for him to new heights. Thank you for covering his letter.

Sincerely,

<my sig>

Hi Soma, welcome to Hatrack. [Wave]

This forum moves pretty fast. Generally, members try to scan at least the first page or two to see if a thread on a particular topic has been started yet. This keeps threads from dropping off the front page too quickly. The bonus for you is that your post is more likely to be seen in a popular thread than a new one. It's no big deal, but I thought I'd mention it because that's a different preference than many other forums have. Plus you may be interested in what many people have already posted about Rush's mention of OSC today.

Hang around - there's lots of discussions going on and we're basically pretty nice folk.

I only think of Rush as a blow-hard and don't really respect him for the fact that I think he isn't always honest with himself or his listeners and a lot of times he'll choose Politics over truth.

This folder doesn't move so quickly. There is a thread about it over in the Books Food, Film and American Culture site. I'm glad you, as the author of the letter, have dropped in to see us.

I'm a huge OSC fan and have been meaning to come and read the boards for some time, but have never quite made it here. I looked on this board and didn't see anything about the Rush discussion and it held several days worth of postings.

I didn't check other boards since this was the one titled "Discussions about OSC" [Smile] . I even checked a couple of threads here to see if it was mentioned somewhere buried. Sorry for the redudancy. I'll check the other boards as well when I have time.
