I enjoyed it thoroughly. But I have some questions for Mr. Card about it.

Did you actually write the text? It's never made completely clear - or at least, I missed it if it is made completely clear. The dialogue and characterization style seem like OSC to me, but from my understanding, the story itself was created by Doug Chiang.

If I understand correctly, he came up with the plot and characters, and you actually wrote the story. Is that right? It talks an awful lot about Doug's creation of Robota and his ideas for the story, and then he briefly mentions in one paragraph that he collaborated with you - but I'm not really sure how, and it left me feeling like you should have gotten more of a nod for the amount of work you appear to have done.

I wish it was delineated more clearly who did what for Robota. It was definitely a neat book, though. The artwork was incredible, and as I said, I really liked the story.

Sorry if this is a totally stupid question. The answer to it is probably inside the book, but evil book pixies are preventing me from actually comprehending it.

Doug Chiang had the initial concept for the characters, and a rough outline, but he gave Card a lot of freedom to revise things and make the story his own. So the story that exists in the book is definitely an Orson Scott Card story ... with the preconditions that his story had to line up with and explain Doug Chiang's existing creative work.

Oh! Thanks for explaining, Rat. I wonder why they didn't make that clearer in the book.

What a wonderful book. The story and the art are each outstanding on their own. Together they make magic.
