This is an email I have sent to Stetman, moderator of the hatrack Young Writers' Workshops:

Here you will see one "Veteran" claiming two works (the poem "FIN." and an untitled prose piece) to be his which are, in actual fact, mine. Evidence for my ownership can be seen here and here for "FIN." and here

In addition, he has reproduced both of them in their entirety on the YWW thread I mention.

Please be kind enough to delete this thread and ban this contempible little copyright-infringer.

Seeing as how this is a pretty damn major issue, and seeing as how Stetman doesn't seem to be around much, I was wondering if anyone could tell me who else I ought to email (for example, is there an ubermoderator or something for Hatrack in general?) to get rid of this problem ASAP.

I'd probably try to direct Mrs. Card's or Kathryn Janitor's attention by either changing the name of this thread ("Moderators- Help!" or something of that nature) or blowing the "whistle" on myself.

I'm not sure they are the right people to "bother", but I'm sure they would know what you can do or who you should talk to.

It's one thing to find a poem on the internet and plagiarize elsewhere on the internet. . . but to find a poem on the internet and plagiarize it in a forum where the real author is an active member. . . WELL!

You must realize that the moderators of all our forums are "volunteers" not full time employees. Stetman -- a good and trusted and close friend, so watch what you say about Stetman here [Smile]

I'm quite aware that some people have lives outside of the internet (!). If the email seemed brusque, it was unintentionally so due to the content of the message:mad: and wasn't meant to imply impatience with the projected long resposne time. [Smile]

You need to email me directly with an e-mail address that works. The one you have listed in your profile does not. We have no way of know which of you (ae or "veteran") is telling the truth without some more information. You have be contactable. Stetman is on the job, but all that is talked about in the Young Writers area is that Veteran is mad cause someone is stealing his work. Get in contact.

slacker: Surprisingly, I've never gotten any spam with my Hotmail account, and I haven't been taking pains to conceal it on forums etc. either. Go figure.
