I get the basics of it. Hooking up the audio and video (the monitor cord). However, when I booted up my system, it displayed at first as XP was loading. As soon as the desktop came up, the projector reported no signal. I tried this three times, two different projectors, same results.

How can I get this to work?

I have XP.

What kind of laptop is it?

Some laptops have a special key combination that you press to switch from the projector to the screen and back again. IIRC, on a Toshiba laptop it was FN-4. Could be wrong, though--it's been a while.

mine is SUPPOSED to be fn+F3

but when I pressed it, it showed a blue screen, then back to the no signal screen.

It sounds like your laptop doesn't know how to properly export the signal (I know my wording is funky). We had a similar problem with our laptop and tv. Is there an advanced settings options for your monitor setup where you can specify the type of device you are outputing to?

That might help. I wish I could troubleshoot NOW, but the dang projector is locked up at the school. *rolls eyes*

so there's a few possibilities. I might need to look at the display properties and tell it to use the other monitor (projector).

maybe it isn't F3, but Function, F1 as the chart says.

Hmm.

Mack, my laptop has a function button with lcd/tv written on it. Its f7 and f8, though.

The other thing I can think of is that sometimes you need to reboot the laptop and/or projector in order for the connection to take. Try connecting them before turning either on, and if that doesn't work, rebooting the laptop.

On my work laptop, I need to go to the control panel, pull up the Settings Tab, click on Advanced, click on the Displays tab, and enable the correct output, whether video or monitor.

G'luck.

Okay, updated the driver. I think this may solve the problems.

*crosses fingers*
