Okay, well actually it was Gandalf. But I found love with Frodo instead. Just chaste romantic kissing love. And then Gandalf was taunting him about whether he (Frodo) was gay.

The strange thing is that in real life I find Legolas cutest, then Aragorn, then Elrond. Even of the halflings I like Pippin best. In the movies anyway. I'm waiting to see all the movies before I read the books.

By the way, Frodo kisses like a chicken. Peck peck peck. But maybe I was getting him mixed up with Willow.

I almost started a Dobie with that title, Erik.

But I couldn't work out the body of message.

However:

quote:
The strange thing is that in real life I find Legolas cutest, then Aragorn, then Elrond. Even of the halflings I like Pippin best.
Can someone tell me what is wrong with this passage?

And in "real life", that Klingon girl from Enterprise is my favorite, though Seven of Nine is a cute Borg too.

Seriously, though... Elrond??? Wow, I'm scared. And scarred. Squick!

A year or so ago, I had a dream that several Hatrackers were in my family room watching a movie. Since I've only met, like, three, the faces were definitely off. It seemed like there were floating names so I could keep track of everyone. And for the life of me, I can't remember what movie we were watching.

Eruve Nandiriel - You're certainly not the only poster at Hatrack to believe this, and so please don't think what I'm about to say is an attack of your beliefs.

This subject has been debated ad nauseum, in every conceivable way, and has caused pain and hurt to people on both sides of the fence. There are a few people who post here who are gay, and they are absolutely fantastic people. To cavalierly make blanket statements like that can be hurtful to them, and so it's generally avoided unless it's within a thread that specifically deals with this topic, when people of both idealogies can defend their positions and listen to the other side.

To NOT mention your beliefs on this matter in a thread like this would not be condoning them, you would simply be reserving your comments for a more appropriate time and place.

Remember, there are a lot of posters around here from all walks of life. It always takes me more effort to be considerate of people by couching my words carefully, but I've found that it's also well worth it for everyone involved.

[Smile]

(That's aside from the whole gay=sin argument...I just don't think it's wrong to express regret that some who is totally unattainable anyway is additionally unattainable by virtue of gender preference.)

I'm sorry if I offended anyone, I won't go any further into the topic here. I just thought that that's what he was asking about...

Elrond? He still gives me the willies from The Matrix I hated him in that role. And for some reason, I think the first time I see/notice an actor, whatever role they are playing, I subconsciously think of as them. I hated what they tried to do to his accent and he played a bad character. So, he will never do anything for me.

Orlando Bloom, however, his a hottie. I liked him in Pirates of the Caribbean, which is where I noticed him for the first time. (Yeah, I saw LotR when it came out on DVD, but that movie does nothing for me. However, the second time I watched it, when LotR2 came out, I noticed him. I also notice Arogon, but once again, even though he is hot in LotR, his early roles, he was a jerk. Eww. So, no matter how hot he is, he doesn't do much for me.

And as long as we are discussing LotR, could they have found a bigger actor to play a dwarf? I mean John Rhys-Davies is 6'" tall and weighs, what, like 250? Maybe they did it to make Elijah Wood and Sean Astin look smaller, though I can't imagine that making someone that big look small was easy.

Oh, and I think it's sad that Ian McKellen is gay because that means he won't ever fancy me!

Posted by Ralphie (Member # 1565) on :

We weren't talking about availability, though.

If we were, I'd be [Cry] about both KarlEd and Caleb.

Although, who was it that called me a litmus test for gay? Was that Karl? For that, I am eternally in love. <3

Posted by Storm Saxon (Member # 3101) on :

Well, we haven't talked about gay wizards that much. Wizard/hobbit love--sin or not? I'm guessing not because, really, neither one of them are men. So, God would prolly be o.k. with it. I mean, this is assuming wizards or hobbits even have souls.

Interesting topic, really.

Alas, my most popular thread to date and it's the one I wish would just die die die. What's the term for something that totally makes sense at the time you do it but later you go "AAAhg!"

quote:
And in "real life", that Klingon girl from Enterprise is my favorite, though Seven of Nine is a cute Borg too.

I meant real life where I know that Ian McKellan is the actor playing Gandalf, and also where I don't also have a ring of power that can only be destroyed by throwing it into my hot tub. Because it's made of papier mache, don't you know.

I must say... I recognized Viggo Mortensen from 28 days, but I thought he played Jesus in the miniseries from a couple of years ago, which apparently he did not. But I don't always associate him with the first place I would have seen him, which was one of the Amish in Witness.

But I guess it shows I'm homophobic that I would post a thread about me and Ian McKellan but *not* me and Mackillian.

My brother tried to explain to me that LOTR was deeply symbolic of some kind of religious stuff. I think he was saying it was actually catholic, which means that with him being English it would have to be not as obvious as in C.S. Lewis. I was like, whatever.

Though I guess Gandalf got stuck in my subconscious because I wanted to post about whether he fell through the center of the earth in the 'C in Furlongs/Fortnight" thread. But I never got around to it. So it came out in my dream. Worked its way out. "came out" is the wrong expression there.

See, if he's male then it's WAY too much information. And if she's female then it's way too salacious for a family forum. And if it's neither male nor female, I think it has other problems.

PS- For the record, I envision ALL Jatraqueras as Brazilian supermodels. I think it's the accent.

I think the confusion may have come from the fact that you referred to Eruve as "he," whereas I'm almost certain that she's a girl.

Oh, I think eruve is female though, so when you wrote he, I just thought it was me.

I only freaked a little because I've met 8+ lesbians in 2 years at the same camp.

pooka, there are many other forums out there that are filled with people trying to "hook up" and that is usually one of the first questions they ask. Here, it is a bit of joke because we generally try to respond to what is posted, not the type of body they used to post it.

It's kind of like the difference between going to a library for literary discussion and going to singles bar to pick someone up for the night. I think that Bok and Ralphie were trying to be funny.

Ding-ding-ding! Kayla is spot on.

Thanks a lot, JaneX! Now they're not gonna call me that anymore! (and how'd you get the dots over the "e"? [Hail] )

And Annie, Pippin is hotter than Merry. Did I ever mention that my cat's name is Pippin? Yep, and my other cat's name was Merry, but we don't have him anymore. [Cry]

Pippin is hotter than Merry, but when you look at the actors out of character, it is reversed, IMO.

Olivet, I'm sorry about your kittens. That's so sad.

Has anyone noticed how much cats and hobbits have in common? They both:
1. are very stealthy
2. love to eat
3. are hairy/furry
4. are small
5. tend to be "large in the belly"
there was more, but I can't think of it now...

Yeah. [Frown] I have since learned that it is just a BAD IDEA to name a pet after a favorite character in a book. My first pet cat was named Cat in the Hat, which somehow evolved into "Kitty Hitty"-- a name change that no doubt saved her life. She lived into her teens.

Every other pet I have named for a character has come to a bad end, or else had to be given up (I always find better than suitable homes for pets I cannot keep. Maneki Neko sleeps on a mink-covered window seat. [Eek!] Oedipus didn't get on very well when I got married. Pooped in the hubby's shoes. It was the gorgeous hubby or the gorgeous Persian. Tough call.

I now have Tess, who is well despite being named after a D'Urberville, Smudge, Aloysius, and Groucho/Hitler (depending on her mood). Think four is a lot of kitties? Tess was preggers when I rescued her, and I only found a good home for one of the babies (I'm PICKY). My sister has, erm, seven, I think.

I don't understand why everybody thought Eowyn was so hot. [Confused]

I think she's attractive, but she's not head-over-heels gorgeous, as many people here think. Now Galadriel, she was hot! [Big Grin] [Embarrassed] Since most of the characters are men, I think women had more oogling time. No fair! [Razz]

I don't know what the deal is. I've only had one hot dream about Viggo Mortensen. In this dream, though, my husband is played by the guy most famous as Shooter McGavin from "Happy Gilmore". I think I was being played by Gillian Anderson :gives everyone a stern look:

We were touring a building of historical significance, like a library at University of Chicago or something. My husband has a cadre of no good cads, headed by Billy Crystal.

As we are leaving, Ian and I are slightly ahead of the group and there is a foyer enclosed by double doors. As we enter the foyer there is a moment of privacy in which I tell him of my longing to kiss him. He deigns to let me kiss his hand a few times. But to our horror Lt. Crystal is observing us through a forgetten window, one of the architectural distinctions of this venue.

Then the dream shifted into hanging out with Julia Duffy from "Intolerable Cruelty" and also a former neighbor of ours who was asking how we came to paint the interior of our former residence a pale green. I was puzzled as well. My first home was that color inside, a shade called "Infatuation" and my husband in real life had hated it.
