When is it Okay and Not Okay to edit your posts without saying why or what you did? I can understand people getting mad when it's in the middle of a heated debate and someone changes their post to be rather innocuous from a caustic one, but is there any other time when it's Not Okay to edit mysteriously??

You're right, Ryuko, we love you!

Wee... and other miscellanious nonsuspisious words.

I never actually change the emphasis or point of a post. I often go back and make spelling changes, though I try and tell everyone what I did. A couple days ago I edited out a post that was too off topic, but I said so and did it before anyone had responded. That's my story... [Wink] [Smile]

It's never OK to edit without explaining. [Wink]

It's okay to go back and correct spelling and UBB code screw-ups. Oh, and if someone else had edited their post to make yours look weird, it's always good to go back and edit yours and call them names. [Smile]

I'll go back and edit spelling, and I'll add something I just thought of after I posted it the first time, but I won't change anything if it's already been commented on. Better to just joke about it farther down.

I like how jehovoid goes back and edits his posts when the thread is long dead, just to add little cheeky things. I've scoured the old threads to see if he's proposed marriage to me yet, but no dice.

I'll edit spelling, and I'll edit for comedic effect. I won't edit to hide something I've said that I'm embarrassed about in retrospect, and - like Chris - I won't edit if I know people have commented on it.

So, I just don't read anyone else's posts so I always have an out if I decide I don't like what I've said.

I will go back and edit for really bad spelling, for recalcitrant UBB code, and for puncutuation or to fix a word if it misrepresents what I was trying to say. But I only will do this within about a minute or two of when I first posted, and I always, always (I think I do...anyway, I try [Blushing] ) indicate why I have made the edit. Having said that, I'm slightly OCD and so I always read through posts once or twice before I post them in an effort to avoid having to edit.

I haven't done this in a while. Thanks for the reminder. And seriously, what's the fun in killing a thread if you can't go back and gloat over the corpse?
