This year, I'm going to get all creative-y and make Christmas presents. I need some really good ideas for stuff that isn't utterly lame. All the stuff I've seen online qualifies as utterly lame. Save a poor girl from Christmas embarrassment!

MJ,
Do you have kids?
Are you an artist?
My idea for this year was to scan my kids' art, and make them into a pack of greeting cards(for family)
Bundle them up with ribbon, and voila! A lovely gift for the doting grandmother.

Have you seen those mason jars with the layered ingredients in them ready to make cookies or brownies? I always love getting those, all you need to add is the wet ingredients. And they are always so pretty when they are decorated festively. The layers look cool and it's relatively inexpensive. You can do a big batch and have everyone done in one swoop!

Or get some pretty decorative bottles and make vinegars and oils flavored with herbs and/or chiles. Put the ingredients in the bottle so they look nice, add the vingegar or oil, cap them and let them steep for a month. My favorites are rosemary oil and raspberry vinegar.
Cover the caps with wax for a pretty touch.

Ooh, all of those are good!

Annie, do you have recipes for those two?

I don't do recipes for anything. I just put stuff in until it's pretty and it tastes good. [Smile]

*thinks*
well, basically, what Annie said.

Get some pretty decorative bottles with corks.

Purchase fresh herbs of your choosing.

Place herbs in bottle to look pretty.

Pour in olive oil.

Put on cork.
