As you know, I work a technical support helpdesk. It goes without saying, then, that my job revolves around the phone (yes, I have to wear one of those headsets that automtically answers the incoming calls).

Well -- the phones are down.

Have been for about 2 1/2 hours now. No sign of SBC getting them back up.

So looking for ideas of what to do with all this time on my hands. I'm actually keeping up on Hatrack and all the other pages I usually cruise. Looking for something new. And didn't have the forethought to bring food for PARTY since didn't plan on phone problem.

For the past week, I have taken only 3 calls. 3 FLIPPIN' CALLS!!!!!

Mostly, I spend my time sleeping, reading a book, writing insane comments in notepad, rubiks cube, talking with other employees, Hatrack, Grenme, Sakeriver ([/shameless plugs]) sleeping, doodling, solving the mysteries of the universe, browsing Fact Monster, reading comics through AOL's comic site, writing a profile for Grenme's mafia game, reading peoples on-line journals.

I find the most fun is reading peoples on line journals, though the ones that I read are on AOL only, so unless you have AOL, you're just going to have to search for them yourself.

This reminds me of a cartoon our secretary has posted over her desk. It shows a couple of people in a cubicle. One is on the phone saying, "Yeah, the computers are down. We have to do everything manually today."

On her desk is her manual labor, a dealt hand of solitare using actual cards.

what an exciting life, T!

reading peoples on-line journals.

You know, a fellow co-worker on my helpdesk here has just established his own Blog , and so now I'm wondering whether I should make one, as well. Of course, I have a home web page, but that is so mundane...

For anyone who can access AOL's Journals, I highly recommend '2 scoops of crazy'. Funny stuff.

Thanks for the plug, T_Dude. [Smile]

By the way, I have been twiddling my thumbs at work for over a year.
