I thought this was pretty interesting. Has anyone seen this before?

Oh man! I keep missing this. I have the book. It's been awhile since I read it. It has a place right next to my Card collection. Well not "next" to it since it won't fit there. In fact, I may have to read it again... just one more excuse to keep me from my Nanowrimo project.

Thanks for pointing this out, pajeba.

Nothing says cool like being an astrophysics/cosmology/subparticle physics geek. (We really need a geek smilie, but this will have to do [Cool] .)

Heh, I didn't look at the page title, and I was about to say that it sounds like it covers the same stuff as The Elegant Universe, by Brian Greene. I read that book a couple of years ago. It's a good read. I particularly liked how it explained everything in nice simple terms, but then included the equations in the endnotes. Those equations were way over my head, but they were still neat to see.

This is on TV in the UK every Sunday and I can't miss it. I'm not sure I understand every concept, (physics is not really my strongest subject) but I love the way Physicists think they can prove and understand everything with numbers. Somehow it's very comforting.

It is the same, Brian Greene hosts the TV special. I videotaped it and it's now running on the other PBS channel here. It's really interesting. They do a good job of interweaving the last century of physics, without being really repetitive.

One string to rule them all...and in the darkness bind them.

I'm depressed, I got to Strings to the rescure (or whatver) and now it doesn't want to download them anymore. [Frown]

It's a Nova special? awesome!

I raved about this book this summer ( here) and it remains one of my favorites. [Smile]

Next time I get a few free hours (read: not this month!) I am so watching all of those.
