Rounds One, Two, Three, Four, Five, Six, Seven, Eight, Nine, Ten, Eleven, Twelve, Thirteen, Fourteen, Fifteen, Sixteen, and Seventeen, Eighteen, and Nineteen, Twenty, Twenty-one, Twenty-two, Twenty-three, Twenty-four, Twenty-five, Twenty-six, and Twenty-seven.

quote:
I’m so tired of wearing hats. That girl right there, the one with the red hair—she doesn’t know I have pointy ears. She’d slap me and send me off to the loony bin if I told her that.

It’s not just the ears.

It’s all these damn mortals whining about growing old and dying. They just never think of anything else. Should have run off to the gray havens when I had the chance. Wusses. Wonder if they’re even on earth any more. Bet that’s what the Bermuda triangle is. Damn elusive Valar.

She’s waving. Is she waving at me? I think so. I guess I have to go talk to her.

Wish I could remember her name. Starts with an L. Layla? Lily? Laura? Lynn. That’s it. So many names.

“Hey Taran. Help me out with this?” she asked. Oh yeah. Eru put me on this earth to lift your paper boxes for you. It’s what I’ve always wanted. That name…how long ago had I stolen it? Thousands of years, hundreds of thousands. Oh well. I’m a janitor this decade, and Prissy Lynn can’t pick up her own box.

“Yeah, sure. Where do you want it?”

She waved her hand at the other side of the building. Figures. “Oh, just over there against the wall. You don’t mind, do you?” She flashed that smile, like she didn’t care whether I minded or not. I lugged the box over, and set it down next to the hundred other boxes full of paper. She touched my shoulder. I hate it when she does that, like her fingers just happened to be there. If she’s so interested, why doesn’t she ask me to go for a drink or something? Maybe she wants me to ask her. Heh. That’d be rich. No, sorry, I can’t take my hat off. Why? Oh, I just like it on.

Why shouldn’t I ask her for a drink? It’s been at least a century since I’ve seen hair like that. Could be another century.

“Hey, Lynn, want to go for a drink with me later tonight?” I sounded like a kid. Doesn’t matter. She thinks I’m a kid. We’ll just leave that be.

The smooch for an unsupported guess, BTW, will be from my neighbor's dog, who has disgusting breath and a tongue the size of a hand towel.

Way to capture typical Elven haughtiness! I'll guess Ni.

Here's the next.

How about everyone decides to be nice and give kwsni some good critique?

Posted by kwsni (Member # 1831) on :

whoa.

I thought it'd last longer than one guess.
::shrug::

Ni!

Critique:

This reminds me a little of the movie Dogma (you know, with the angels...) But I rather like it because I rather like Dogma and the general concept of very very old people who never age. I love to meet people like that and ask them questions about the past.

The only problem I forsee is the fact that very old people only have two ways to go; the bitter and pessimistic and the wise and knowledgable. I think, if you haven't already broken these stereotypes, you should, because it's always nice to read something new.

No problem with it going anywhere, it was just part of an exercise that I kind of liked.

I really liked the style of this piece. Technique is flawless too -- perfect usage, grammar, punctuation.

*applauds*
