Rule 1 -- Must be a normal movie shown in a normal movie theater at one time or other.
Rule 2 -- the person who has a quote gives the quote, and then three follow up clues if requested.
Rule 3 -- The winner gets to post the next quote.

1. Mine?

Is the answer Finding Nemo? (and how do I know if I'm right?)

if I'm right, I'll post a quote as soon as you say.

Posted by Trogdor the Burninator (Member # 4894) on :

Jeez. I thought I picked a hard one.

Yes, it's from the seagulls from Finding Nemo. Anyone with kids should have gotten that one easily.

Alright Sunny, you're up.

I'm not certain how turns work, but, uh, Defending Your Life? I know something like that was in there.

Man, I got no idea. I'm saying Saving Private Ryan, or maybe Tombstone? But I have zero support for either of those.

It's a quote game. It's allowed.

Tombstone is right. I'll leave it up to Trogdor to decide if multiple guesses should count or not. After all, its not my game.

Wow, 80's fans, huh? It's Weird Science. I think. I'm spending entirely too much time on this, I return to this page every 5 minutes.

You know Bill Paxton hates being reminded he did that movie? I should think he'd be more ashamed of ID4, especially his little speech scene.

Twister was really nothing to be proud of either. ( He says to prove that he's seen a movie since the 80's)

*pat, pat*

I'll let it go...just this once.

So what's the answer? I can't think of it, but I'm fairly certain I've seen the movie.

You are correct. Give the man a cookie!
You'll also find that line in many other Stanley Kubrick films.

Wait do we only get one guess, or one guess per post?

Posted by fiazko (Member # 5812) on :

I say keep the win, Morbo, but only if you give me the cookie.

Posted by Morbo (Member # 5309) on :

ok fiazko, you get one cookie. Give me a couple of minutes and I'll put a quote.

Trying to move this along, I have to crash.

Brother 1:"Y'understand, H.I., if this works out it's just the beginning of spree across the entire Southwest proper. We keep goin' till we can retire, or we get caught."

Brother 2:"Either way, we're fixed for life."

*sigh*

I don't know the answer. Is anyone else still playing?

Posted by Morbo (Member # 5309) on :

I'll wait a few more minutes then give the answer.

Gale:"Whyncha breast feed him? You 'pear to be capable."

Ed:"Mind your own bidnis."

Nope. But similar brand of absurdist humor.
It's "Raisng Arizona," the first big feature from the Coen brothers, staring Nick Cage, Holly Hunter, and John Goodman. One of my favorite comedies! [ROFL]

G'night! [Sleep]

I loved that movie, and I recognized not a single quote. Sad, really. Though it has been over 10 years since I saw it.

So whose turn is it now? Or are we all going to sleep. I should . . .

Posted by fiazko (Member # 5812) on :

i'm still here, rivka. i'm only on when i'm at work, and i'm only at work overnight. i thought about continuing the game by myself, but i decided it would be hard to come up with quotes i couldn't place. talking to myself is much better. actually, i just figured i'd spout a little and see if you're still with me.

Did we ever figure out that last quote from a few months ago?

"What does it do?"

"Nothing! That's the beauty of it!"

You're welcome.

argh! it is so right there, but i can not think of it.

Posted by docmagik (Member # 1131) on :

I was sure those quotes were from a Coen brothers movie, but never having seen one, I couldn't begin to guess.

It's a messed-up quote from Isaac Azimov's Nightfall.
quote:
It was Yimot who answered. 'We shut ourselves in and allowed our eyes
to get accustomed to the dark. It's an extremely creepy feeling because the
total Darkness makes you feel as if the walls and ceiling are crushing in on
you. But we got over that and pulled the switch. The caps fell away and the
roof glittered all over with little dots of light -- '
'Well?'
'Well -- nothing. That was the whacky part of it. Nothing happened. It
was just a roof with holes in it, and that's just what it looked like. We
tried it over and over again -- that's what kept us so late -- but there
just isn't any effect at all.'

I hate you, Frisco.

But if you must be like that, at least give the quote as it was originally posted:

"What does it do?"
"It doesn't do anything. That's the beauty of it!"

for the love of pete please have an answer this time, I couldn't take it again.
but it did make me laugh at least.

[Grumble]
Frisco, were you the one to resurrect this the last time to reinflict torment?

Note to anyone who wants to start any similar games in the future: Be very specific in the game instructions that the person offering a quote must know its source.

[Grumble]

(Please don't overinterpret my grumblies - I was in on the original quest for the quote and have managed to deal with failure and let go on at least three separate occasions now. I appreciate the pain-rooted humor in bringing it back. It does, however, kinda bring things to a halt, as we know from sad and frustrated experience.)

Wait a second, this thread has rules on the front page. So we don't have to do that quote unless you can provide 3 clues, Frisco!
