(Was "Shameless Pimpage".)

Sorry about this, but I'd like to appeal to all writing Jatraqueros to submit something for issue two of The Metastatic Whatnot. We're having some difficulty filling our ToC, and I know (just from the poetry thread, for one!) that there are some good writers here. Guidelines are on the site (one thing, though: contrary to what's said there, we are looking for non-fiction, the rate for which will be US$10 a piece).

While I'm at it, I might as well plug my new blog, too. Yeah. Go read it. I mean, if you want to. . . . [Angst]

Edit: Because I'm curious, but don't want to start a new thread—does anyone else here keep a blog? I'm sure there've been topics on this before, but I must have missed them.

Edit 2: Also, vote for my blog in the Asia Weblog Awards here and here. If you don't, the terrorists have already won!

What sorts of nonfiction?

I have a confession to make...I really hate the phrase 'ripping good yarn'. Otherwise, blog is most excellent. Exchange of the day made me laugh out loud. [Smile]

fugu: Essays, reviews, interviews. . any form so long as it has something to do with literature. We know it when we see it. [Razz]

Storm: I normally dislike it, too. I don't know what I was thinking. [Eek!] Glad you liked the rest.

ae - I knew you were a foul-mouth, angsty little bugger.

Makes me like you more.

(Blog is good. Needs more references to your crush on me, though.)

ae, remember my India trip?

Would you be interested in publishing some of my Indian Oddysey assuming I cleaned it up and fixed the spelling and such?

It would definately have to be serialized. It comes well over 100 pages unedited.

So they pay me $10 or I pay them $10? How do they get the $10?

Ralphie, shh! It's a secret. [Angst]

I'm talking about the angst, of course.

Dan, of course I remember it. I enjoyed reading it, but looking at it now, I don't think it's for us. As I said, we're focussing on literary topics with regard to non-fiction (just for comparison, we ended up not running one of the editor's essays that was on film because of the relevance issue). Bu thanks for the offer. [Smile]

pooka, we pay you $10 (on publication). We get the moola using our patented "four guys saving money" method.

I was a little worried since the names of a couple of the staff sounded made up. I just hoped they weren't involved in... you know... pimpage or something. But I guess a lot of people spend at least that much (divided by four) on hobbies.

HA! Their names are unbelievable, aren't they? But they're real, all real. I swear.

this coming from a couple of vowels. Yeah, we believe you.

I'll go through my stack of stuff and see what I have to submit.

Vowels are trustworthy. Vowels are your friends.

And thanks. [Smile]

Actually, I think he's in high school. Could you be a little less condescending and snobbish yourself? You sound like someone whose ex-girlfriend dumped him for a lib-arts student.

I have a blog. But only one person is allowed to read it.

Posted by Argèn†~ (Member # 4528) on :

But, then, why bother writing it? Wouldn't a paper diary be just the same?

[ROFL] Sorry. :composes self: Now back to your regularly schedualed conversation.

AE, I notice you're purchasing first electronic rights. Does that -- as it traditionally does -- automatically disqualify anything that has already been posted to the web?

When would entries be due? This is my real name also. Well, the first name. nick name. Spelled wrong. :hangs head like Moe:

But I really also want to know what the deadline might be for such a thing.

Argent: Huh? Were you responding to a deleted post? [Angst]

As for the paper diary. . . I foten wonder the same thing msyelf about people who keep really private blogs. Maybe Syn meant "one other person"?

Tom: Nope. Firstly, we're not too anal about it, and secondly, we do take reprints.

Miss Severe Hottie: Our deadline for issue two is. . . well actually, as long as it gets to us in time for our webmaster to slot it in for the 1 Jan release, it's fine.

So. . . doesn't anyone else have a blog? Am I the only narcissist in the hizzouse? And by the way, if you check mine out, it can't hurt to vote for it in those *cough* silly award things. [Wink]

I had put a post up about your blog that was a bit derogatory, and Argent responded to it. Although he was way off base about the lib arts thing, he did make me realize I was being a bit too harsh about the blog. You weren't asking for editorial opinion, but were merely requesting perusal of the blog. I realized my mistake and retracted my post.

You should have left it up. I'm always open to criticism.

Well, Tom, if it was ever nominated for an award, I'd vote for it. Just as you should vote for Metastasis here and here. You know you want to.

I'm trying to think of something short to write. But my short stories always turn into something much longer.
