Last night I made a huge mistake and blew-off an event that I was supposed to document. All this morning I've been catching the reprecussion's for it. I've found that in my time of stress and humiliation I've gotten this weird craving for Dr. Pepper and Hershey bars with Almonds.

Frozen king sized Snickers bars, anything with peanut butter and chocolate, Ben and Jerry's, warm chocolate chip cookies.

Anyway, my food is pizza, probably because my dad has been working at a pizza place for the majority of my life.
Root beer floats work too, though, as do Nacho Cheese Doritos.

Mojos are slices of potato, dipped in a magic salty spice mixture, and deep fried. Shakey's called them mojos. There isn't a Shakeys anywhere near where I live, so I get my fix at Izzy's, which unimaginatively calls them Potato Rounds.
I like the name mojo better.

In Cuban culture, mojo is a marinade made with naranja agria ("sour orange"), lime, garlic, and assorted other spices. It is most commonly used with pork, but it works well with chicken, turkey, and lamb as well.

Yep, Shakeys as in Shakey's Pizza. The story I hear is that Izzy's, a small local chain, was once Shakeys, but then Izzy had a falling out, and formed her own chain. They're too expensive and their pizza isn't anything great, but they have the best mojos.
And with that, I think I'll comfort myself with some mojos for lunch and figure out how I'm going to get everything on my to-do list done. Posted by Icarus (Member # 3162) on :
We used to have Shakey's pizza in Florida a long, long time ago. I heard a rumor that Pizza Inn used to once be Shakey's, but then it went out on its own.

When I used to work in an office building my late afternoon craving was always Dr. Pepper and a chocolate bar. I didn't give into it every day, but more often than I should have, I suppose.
Now that I'm on ADD meds, I don't do that anymore, so I guess I was just after the caffeine content.

Hmmm, brussel sprouts. Those are nasty! But pretty much everything else is highly comforting. After the Tums...

jeniwren, if we're talking about the same thing, then your mojos are called jojos around here and I love them with a passion. I also have to second the Sioux City Sarsaparilla! But my ultimate comfort food is mashed potatoes and gravy (stuffing on the side if at all possible!).

I like to go to the Orleans Room, take over the salad bar, and dump just about everything I can find in a bowl. Then, I drown it in Caesar dressing. Pineapple, macaroni salad, carrots, and all.
