Isn't that guy lucky none of that applies with OS X? Its so wonderful apple has fixed all the problems he couldn't stand . (even his odd problems with the dock, which are easily resolved through the system preferences, except for not being able to put it at the top).

I hear people give crap to PCs about viruses. Do Macs not get viruses? I, personally, am on a PC and have never gotten one. All it takes is Norton.
Is this just another way for Mac users to convince themselves that they're elite?

Macs have essentially no viruses. And people certainly can get viruses even running antivirus on windows -- I've seen it happen to people on this forum at least a time or two, for instance.
However, yes, if one is careful one is quite unlikely to get a virus on windows. Though it is nice to not have to worry at all.

Um, Macs essentially have had no viruses for the last three years, and only with one of their operating systems. During the 90's, viruses were just as much a danger with Macs as they are with PCs now. The only thing that has changed is that Macs aren't used by even a 10th ot the people that PCs are, and Macs have switched to a whole different kind of operating system, which has known exploits that have just not been taken care of yet. Don't lie to people about Macs and safety. If Macs were impervious, there would be no need for antivirus and other security software for Macs, just like there are for Windows and Linux. Even Panther has had some issues that required patching. While the guy in the video was overdoing the annoyance act, he's not just making things up, but exaggerating little things to outrageous levels. Just like some are doing in this thread about Windows. At least he says at the end he made the whole thing on a Mac, so he's obviously got no problem working with one. Is it against some code to poke fun at Apple without it becoming a flame fest against Microsoft from all the loyal Mac users?

No, viruses were not just as dangerous for macs. Excepting office macro viruses, there were only a handful of mac viruses that managed to spread to a decent number of mac users (and far from the majority).
Similarly, despite Apache's dominance among web servers, there are few apache viruses to speak of, while there have been numerous viruses taking advantage of IIS.
Its not all about popularity.

I wish I could find my Mac gamer parody commercial. I loved the part about how you upgrade the parts in a Mac ("I just throw my old Mac away, and go buy a new one").
I think it's fun to tweak Mac users, who in my experience, who get incredibly mad if you make fun of Steve Jobs (or say anything less than "hail Steve") or talk down about Mac products.

Baren, there's different kinds of damage out there. If you wanted to do some real damage, there was an exploit out last year that affected DNS servers running BIND (which the master name servers were running) that would have been much more effective than getting someone to open a .exe file.
One thing that alot of people overlook is that it's the people who run the OS that are to blame for alot of the problems with Windows. People who will open any attachment from anyone (even if they don't know the person, and it ends in .exe, .bat, etc), or people who don't feel the need to run windows update (even when there's a message on the news telling you to run the update) and watch their machine be compromised a while down the road.
That's part of the reason that MS is considering having Windows update run automatically (and without user intervention).
