Fanny May Candies , a great place for gooooood chocolate is closing its doors and shutting down. [Eek!]

Some group out of Utah is buying them, but just the name and recipe's. They are letting my neighborhood store, my chocolate source, go away.

Mean Utahians. [Frown]
(Utah-ers? Utahtians?)

(Utahns, according to article on the front page under "current news")

As for the topic, don't they know that for every chocolate store bought out by someone in Utah, an LDS's dog's last owner dies? This is genocide!

Actually, I've never had Fannie May chocolate, but if they (meaning anybody) ever lay a hand on See's candy, they will regret it. Let us pray that this isn't a start of a very sick trend.

Ok, you're forgiven, Annie.

NOOOOO! [Cry]

Fannie Farmer chocolates are among the ONLY readily available quality boxed chocolates that are kosher. And certainly the only ones that have significant variety.

Even if they start making them at this other company in Utah, what are the odds that they'll have kosher certification? Almost nil.

Forgiven? What was I guilty of?

Oh. Maybe Celia's been to Sakeriver this morning.

Rivka, I doubt this helps, but I do know that Sno-Cones and their juices (except for the Grape Flavor) are all kosher.

You really don't want to know why I know that. We have ordered them in from a producer in Chicago.

Thanks, Dan. I know that actually, although I haven't had a snow cone in years. Not sure why . . . *drools*

I enjoyed Fannie May when I lived in Virginia. It is probably not a good thing if Trinidads become available here (because I'm such a junkie). I may have to move to Canada.

Next thing you know this evil Utah conglomerate will bring in real mallomars.

Okay, I take it back. Alpine is the company who ran the billboard:

Finally a candy factory without all those creepy Oompa Loompas!

I find it hard to believe that Fannie May went bankrupt. I mean, I thought all the sin stocks soared after 9/11. But maybe they went bankrupt before that, and just emerged from it in 2002.
