I'm trying to lay down two tracks on my computer. A vocals track and a guitar track.
I've been using soundforge 6.0, but I can't seem to figure out how to play back the guitar track WHILE I record a vocals track.
Does anyone know how to do this, or perhaps another program that wouldn't take days to download that would do it?
Thanks -Noah

John would know. In case he doesn't see it, you could ask at GreNME.

Download n-track studio, fool. Soundforge is a post-recording digital audio mixer. You'll have a rough time using it during the recording process.

Hey primal, im using that program and it's working great. One problem though--
When Im recording a new track, even though it seems to be picking up the microphone audio, it's not putting it into a new track. the new track shows up completely blank. Any ideas?

When you play the track it is completely devoid of data?
Posted by CalvinMaker (Member # 2032) on :
the new one it creates, yes

Does the other track have the recorded data on it?

The first one I recorded does, yes. But when I try to record any additional tracks, all that appears it a blank track the length of the time i recorded for.

Wow, sounds like a weird bug. Can you give me your system specs?
Posted by CalvinMaker (Member # 2032) on :
Um, not exactly sure what they are/how to give them.

Can you get on AIM? It'd probably be easier to do this on there.
And thanks for your help man.

Good heavens things have changed since cleaning and threading spools days . . .

I'm sorry. It's too late to offer step-by-step tech support. I'm tired and have to be up early for work.
I'd suggest going into chat and ask Zevlag, Bernard or Raventh to give you a hand. My wager is that you need updated sound card drivers, but I could certainly be wrong.
Otherwise, just play with the software and look at the FAQ's and stuff. That's how I figure out that kind of thing. Check out their messageboard (if they have one) and see if someone has the same problem as you.

Cool Edit also has a trial version, and it's a program I'm more familiar with. For starters: are you arming the correct track before each take?
