Did I miss this being posted earlier? If so, then we now have another thread. If not, it's news: Original 'Star Wars' films coming to DVD

*drools*
I own the VHS version, and since you can't buy a VCR without it being a VCR/DVD double, I can't watch it because my VCR is broken.

I wonder, when the re-released these with the 15 extra minutes of footage just before episode 1 came out, will the additional footage be in this version?

That is the coolest news.

The only thing they don't mention in the article is if the movies that are being released are the "orginal" ones, or the special editions, or Lucas's new super special awesomely different editions.

Please please please let it be the originals.

Not the originals, as Lucas feels that those do not represent what he really wanted on the screen. They will be the special editions relesed for the 20th aniversary.

btw, once these are released on dvd i can *finally* throw away my vcr.

Sweetness...i've been waiting for this so long. I won't miss VHS in the least bit.

damnit...looks like i won't be throwing away my vcr.

but i thought Lucas said he would never even release the special editions on dvd, and that the only thing he would release would be even newer versions with more changes.

I will never spend money on a "Greedo shoots first" piece of crap.

After all, there are such things as principles.

In this version, George Lucas digitally inserts a fight scene between Qui-Gon in Force form, versus Darth Vader.

And it takes place on Dagobah.

With a triple bladed lightsaber.

Thats black.

*predicts a pirated version of the DVD quickly arises where the original Han shoots first sequence is restored and Jabba is gone from Ep. 1*

I'm pretty sure the new version has this guy in it...
