I sprained my frequin' wrist.

<No, it has nothing to do with that subject, you sickos out there.>

Yeah, it's not like all the other health-type stuff going on within my family right now, because this was simply as a result of stupidity, or at least clumsiness, on my part. I was walking into the living room with Mama's and Mooselet's dinner in my hands, and I got my foot stuck while walking over the child safety gate. T(It's apparently only safe for children, not clumsy adults.) I was smart enough to (a) drop the food and catch myself, (b) throw the food far enough away that I didn't scald myself on hot tuna helper, and (c) throw the food in such a way as to decorate the room, but miss all the people. I broke one of the good bowls, though. I was also holding Mooselet's cup of milk, but it's a no-spill sippy cup, so I didn't need to cry.

Mooselet was heart-warmingly concerned for me, as I was slow to get up, and he later kissed my wrist to make it all better. 'Twas too late to get to the walk-in clinic before the x-ray tech left, so I iced the wrist and wrapped it in an ace bandage, and saw my regular doc this morning. Pain didn't seem severe enough to warrant an E.R. trip last night (or the associated $50 co-pay). No fracture, just a sprain, but my left wrist is now fairly immobilized by a brace, so typing is a more time-consuming task.

Just thought I'd rant a bit. You may return to your regularly scheduled Jatraquing.

* The phrase used in the title is in remembrance of Mama Squirrel's roommate Kriss from many years ago, who uttered the phrase in reaction to setting her own hair on fire in a high school science class.

Yeah, I sprained my left wrist playing basketball last year. It was seriously not fun, since I was on a pretty rigorous workout schedule at the time, almost all of which necessitated use of the wrist.

And you thought you were having a bad day...

I'm sorry to hear that you sprained your wrist! I must admit that the mental pictures of your acrobatics and flying tuna helper really made me giggle (but I always giggle at things like that, especially if it's me that's done it). I hope it heals quickly! I hope Mooselet takes good care of you. [Smile]

Be careful with it Pop.

I sprained my ankle a couple weeks ago. Four days ago I sprained it again. This morning I sprained it again.

Needless to say, it's not healing. It keeps getting worse, and it's so weak, it just folds over on me and down I go.

Yeah, if you sprain a joint, it doesn't ever fully heal... I've sprained my ankles numerous times, and sometimes they still bother me. The best thing to do is to get off them for a while, so that the tendons can heal. But that might be easier for Pops than for you, Belle.

Anyway, I recommend not using your wrist so much, if you can.... Good luck both of you!

Poor Pop. But it could have been worse - at least you didn't end up with tuna helper all over you as well.

I broke my wrist about 6 weeks ago (skiing: I managed to fall off a ski lift) and boy has that been a pain! The cast is (hopefully) coming off today though - good to know there will be a Hatracker to carry on the inconvenience for me.

Typing one-handed again, eh Pop?

A kid in my chemistry class just got his cast off from breaking/spraining (x-rays don't show a break but the doctor thought it might just be a tiny break so it's unknown) his wrist by falling off stilts onto a gymnasium floor.

Belle -- I'd really recommend a walking cast for your sprain -- keeps your ankle safe and you can clump around everywhere without any worry...

Obviously they didn't immediately return it to the water.

Hope your wrist is feeling better, Pop. (That goes for Belle with her sprain, as well.)

Sprains are never fun and often seem to hurt more than clean breaks (of course I've never had a major bone break... just toes).

As for the title of this thread, I've actually said those words, in that order, not for the hair reason though. *Knocks on wood* I tend to be accident prone.

That's too bad Papa Moose. I never have sprained my wrist. I can imagine it doesn't feel very nice. [Frown] I hope you feel better. [Smile]

Maybe you shouldn't be on your feet Belle. [Frown] I know how a busted ankle feels. I have sprained mine 4 times in a couple of weeks before too. My right ankle still doesn't rotate with getting "stuck" and then popping before giving me back free rotation. [Dont Know]

Pop-
:::laughing and crying at the same time:::

I'm sorry about the pain, but the sprain really seems to have activated your funny bone!

I hope that everything else is well and that there are no pickle jars in your near future.
