You all remember when we talked about hydrogen fuel cells and it’s feasibility? Well, get a load of this:

http://www.cnn.com/2004/TECH/science/02/13/hydrogen.reactors.ap/index.html

Sweet! It won’t be long now. We’re talking years. Oil will be a thing of the past. Sort of like records, 8 tracks, cassette tapes, and soon to be VCRs.

I love new technology!

I hope they find a new source of energy soon because if not, we're completely doomed.

I wonder what the oil giants will do to try to squash this -- I mean, because they want to so much control the world's energy and money. It could rock the economy.

There's already a thread on this.

I was going to point that out... because the article is the same.

The agribusiness method of raising corn uses a large amount of oil. So the current method of ethanol production is a net energy consumer, not a net energy producer.

So the energy megacorps aren't gonna be hurt much by this development. And besides, those companies are heavily diversified away from relying on crude oil production, so any loss in profits on the oil supply&refining&distribution end will be made up in greater sales of their alternative energy product and associated machinery.

Jay, it is good news, and unexpected. But as the article in the earlier thread implies, this was a bit unexpected, since (as myself and a few others were arguing earlier) up until now lots of fossil fuel was the source of current hydrogen.

Here's hoping this advance pans out.

Jay, I don't mean to come across as annoying or unkind, but are you parodying yourself? First there was the repeat of the Kerry/Drudge thing, and now this, while Noemon's "New Reactor Makes Cheap, Renewable Hydrogen a Reality" is still on the first page.

I just can't keep the multiple nicks/ in-jokes straight. [Confused]
