The following is not a landmark post, just my thoughts on something that never would have happened to me if it weren't for Hatrack.

When Katharina posted her landmark thread and told the story about her mother, it prompted me to start that thread about mothers. I thought of my own mother who is currently undergoing chemotherapy.

The very day that I started that thread, I got an e-mail from a member of Hatrack. She had looked up my e-mail address in my profile and wrote me to express her concern for me. I replied to that e-mail and we've become friends. She is the best friend I have. She allows me to vent and share with her my innermost feelings. I feel comfortable talking to her. I normally don't feel comfortable talking to women. I'm very shy.

This jatraquera is compassionate, friendly, and always knows how to make me laugh when I'm feeling down. She came into my life when I was feeling blue.

My purpose in starting this thread is to publicly thank her for being there for me. Though there are many at Hatrack that I consider friends, this particular jatraquera has become a true friend. You know what a true friend is don't you? It's someone who knows everything about you and likes you anyway.

Oh, I guess I should get around to thanking her. To that special jatraquera, thank you. [Kiss]

I haven't mentioned the name of this fine lady for fear of embarrassing her. There is one person at Hatrack who knows her name. Well, one besides her, of course. CalvinMaker/Noah knows who I'm talking about. I won't reveal her name unless she says it's OK.

I believe that true friendship is a rare commodity. I'm blessed to have found such friend.

I hope that everyone here can find at least one such person in there lives.

The friendship that I have with her is one that I hope will last forever. She accepts me for who I am, faults and all.

I really don't know if anyone will read this post, much less respond to it, but I had to publicly thank her for being there. Again, thank you. [Kiss]

I've made many true friends at Hatrack. So I know what you mean. This place is great. [Smile] Every time I think about leaving it, I think about all my great friends that I've met here and then think about all the new people I might miss meeting if I go. And so I can't ever manage to leave completely.

aka, I know what you mean. This particular jatraquera came into my life at a point when I was feeling pretty low. Katharina's post about her mom hit me pretty hard. This person just e-mailed me out of the blue. She took the time to dig up my e-mail address from my profile and e-mailed me.

Yet again I'd like to say to that special someone, thank you my friend. [Kiss] [Kiss] [Kiss]

*bump*

I'm trying to keep this on the first page so that the person I wrote it about will be able to find it.

Posted by Derrell (Member # 6062) on :

i'm also trying to boost my post count so I can do an actual landmark thread, but mostly I'm bumping this so the person I wrote it about can find it easily.

I just want her to know what her friendship means to me.

((((That special Jatraquera)))) and [Kiss] [Kiss]

This is the magic of Hatrack. *sings*

BTW, Derrell, if you want to make a landmark you don't have to wait for a special post count. It is the tradition, but you can always break it if you want to : for exemple, I haven't made a landmark for my 1000 post, but waited to have something to tell (the announce of my wedding with my beloved Vincent).

(((Anna))) Congratulations. I hope that some day I can make the announcement that I've found my one true love.

I guess the purpose of starting this thread was to publicly acknowledge that special friend and all she's done for me. I want jer to know what her friendship means to me. I guess I should also thank the Cards for creating Hatrack, for if not for Hatrack, she and I would never have met. Well, we haven't actually met, but we have become friends.

When I do finally make a landmark post, I only hope it will be half as insightful as those that have gone before.

*bumpity, bump bump* Since this thread was started as a tribute to a certain jatrquera, i guess I'll take this opportunity to thank her again.

Thank you, thank you, thank you. [Kiss]

Her e-mails are like a ray of sunshine. She has the greatest sense of humor.

Hey Derrell, it was actually me. See, I was bored one day. Sorry dude. You can stop thanking me every time you get online now.

[Wink]

Yeah, right Nathan. This person is far better looking than you, even in your orange tights. She is way better looking than you are. Sorry, Nathan.

Psst. Dude, it's called "fluff". [Wink]

Oh yeah, and I give you permission to reveal me, as well as my alternative, feminine, personaltiy.

[Edit: replaced "extra" with "alternative". I don't want anybody doin' any funny business with hyphens.]

"This person is far better looking than you, even in your orange tights. She is way better looking than you are."

You know, I don't claim to know who this person is, but with the vast majority of girls [edit]here on hatrack[/edit] that are attractive (both in physical and personality aspects) I am positive that you are correct.

T_Smith, there's only one Hatracker who knows who this person is. Well, besides me and this particular jatraquera.

Noah know who she is.

Posted by T_Smith (Member # 3734) on :

North East, right?

Posted by Derrell (Member # 6062) on :

Nope.

Posted by Da_Goat (Member # 5529) on :

North East? Well, that's a silly name.

Posted by Derrell (Member # 6062) on :

Her name is not North East. Nor is that the region of the country she lives in.

Posted by T_Smith (Member # 3734) on :

By process of illimination then, that leaves the South East, the Middle Area, the North West and the South West.

::marks an X on his clue sheet::

What about just "south"? Those penguins are fairly active Card fans, I've heard.

Posted by T_Smith (Member # 3734) on :

::smacks forehead::

I forgot to include foreign countries.

Posted by Derrell (Member # 6062) on :

Sorry, Da Goat, she ain't a penguin. I have heard though, that some of those penguins want OSC to do a book signing down there in Antarctica. [Wink]

Posted by Derrell (Member # 6062) on :

Poor Nathan. Keep trying. You could always just ask Noah.

Posted by Kama (Member # 3022) on :

Given that we only have 2 jatraqueras from foreign countries, I'll make it easier for Nate and say it's not me.

Posted by fugu13 (Member # 2859) on :

I thought we had a few more than that -- there's you, Anna, our various female Aussie and Kiwi members, Amira, and probably at least a couple that I've forgotten

Posted by Kama (Member # 3022) on :

My bad. I meant non-english speaking, rather than foreign.

Posted by saxon75 (Member # 4589) on :

There are a number of Canadians as well, although I don't know if there are any from Quebec.

Posted by ClaudiaTherese (Member # 923) on :

What a sweet thread. [Smile]

Derrell, if you all you really want is to make sure she sees it, you can email her with a link directly to it. That should clinch it.

Canada is foreign? I thought they were the maple leaf state.

What about American jatraqueras who wish they were foreign? Does that count?

Posted by Derrell (Member # 6062) on :

CT, I sent her an e-mail about it. I just hope she checks her e-mail soon. Thanks for the compliment.

I just wish I could identify her, but I'm afraid she might get embarrassed. She is also very humble.

Posted by Derrell (Member # 6062) on :

Besides being humble and compassionate, she's also beautiful.

Even if somebody manages to guess who it is, I won't confirm it without her ok. I value her friendship too much to risk upsetting or embarrassing her.

To that special jatraquera, if you read this, please e-mail me or contact me via AIM. If you don't want me to reveal your identity, I won't.

Thank you again for all you've done for me.

Hoping this thread hasn't done either in and of itself...

I've been wondering the same thing myself.
