Loosely based on Frank Miller's excellent "Year One" series, with a young Bruce Wayne inventing the batman persona while a young James Gordon moves into a corrupt Gotham police force. main villian: Ra's Al Ghul. A risky choice since non-fans have no clue who that is (everyone's heard of the Joker, but who's this guy?) but a good sign that this one will be darker and may require a brain to watch.

The stars are impressing me.

Christian Bale: Bruce Wayne/Batman
Michael Caine: Alfred Pennyworth
Morgan Freeman: Lucius Fox
Katie Holmes: Rachel
Cillian Murphy: Dr. Jonathan Crane
Liam Neeson: Henri Ducard
Ken Watanabe: Ra's Al Ghul

and they just announced that Gary Oldman will be James Gordon.

Please, please do this right...

The Superman vs Batman got dropped, partly to do this one, partly because they couldn't find a good Superman, and partly because the director they wanted decided to shoot "Troy."

I watched the first one not too long ago. Pretty disappointed that it didn't match up to memory.

Just checked it out, yeah, he's in it.

I'm actually disappointed. As this is supposed to be the rebirth of a series, I was hoping he would be the Joker when they redid him.

I know some people love Jack as the Joker, but I'm not one of them.
