These people should have been arrested and any of them found to be illegal should have been deported. This is deplorable behavior and is illegal (of course, since they're in this country illegally they already show what they think of our laws.)

Here's the organization's press release about it

http ://news.yahoo.com/news?tmpl=story&cid=669&u=/usnw/20040328/pl_usnw/community_leaders_visit_karl_rove_s_home__demand_white_house_support_the_dream_act104_xml&printer=1

Aparently they are seeking a federal law to require states to give INstate tution to illegal aliens. So someone who sneaks into the country will go to school at a tax payer subsidized rate when someone from another state, a US Taxpayer and citizen, would not.

NPA and immigrant rights' leaders want the White House to support the Development, Relief, and Education for Alien Minors Act (DREAM Act). It would grant access to instate tuition for children of immigrants whose families have been in the county at least five years and paid taxes for three.
From your own link.

As opposed to someone who has paid taxes all their life and is a citizen of this country?

Why do you think illegal aliens SHOULD get preferencial treatement over American Citizens?

Smirk all you like. Smirking isn't an argument.

(edit: And neither is double posting.)

I personally am in favor of all forms of immigration-even illegal, to some extent-because I realize that the standard of living Americans enjoy is due in part to the fact that there are lots of people willing to bootstrap themselves up, doing jobs that Americans don't want for cheap.

If you eat fruit, have your lawn cared for, shop at Wal Mart, or virtually anything, you're benefiting from immigration.

No one cares that these people invaded his private property?

I'd have had each and every one of them who refused to leave when asked brought up on midemeanor trespass charges. From the perspective of anyone in the house, they were a mob banging on his windows.

My marriage and my two closest friends' marriages have legal immigrants in them. Ack, I am not speaking well today, my apologies.

Anyways, it is an affront to anyone who has made the sacrifices to come here legally through the BCIS (aka INS) to demand services reserved for citizenship.

If they have jobs and pay taxes, good. They are using our roads, our military for defense, and our hospitals for emergency care.

If we are going to pay for education and hospital care, and provide drivers licenses, then we should dismantle the BCIS.

Otherwise, send them home.

ps. I am not sure if my opinion reflects both of my married friends with legal immigrants' viewpoints. Ack. My English!! What is wrong today? [Confused]

Pixie -- how long have *you* been a paying taxes in another state?

Yeah, it makes sense that illegal immigrants who have been paying taxes in, say, Texas for three years should reap the benifits of those taxes more than I, who have not been paying Texas taxes at all.

I Say let anyone who wants to come to America as long as he can prove his ability to be able to sustain himself here for a year. Mainly just for that immigrants own purposes. Why restrict any man from what I have???? So I may have less and honestly maybe my child won't have quite as well. OR maybe ::Shudders:: oh no I might have to pay more taxes. Let him come, let him pay as I have. I know many many great individuals who has one or more parents who are first generation immigrants. I say let them come, its what America is supposed to be about, isn't it?

I am in support of immigration as well, I agree with the reasons stated. I have nothing new to add except that I concur.

mr_porteiro_head, you said what I was thinking.

Just goes to show that "illegal"s care more about America than citizens do.
Rove shoulda already been chased outta town by citizens wielding pitchforks and burning torches.
Of course, mallets and wooden stakes would probably be more effective in the long run.

My paternal grandfather was here illegally. His son went to college, joined the Army, and designed sonar equipment that tracked enemy submarines all over the world. He also helped develop in-flight refueling for military aircraft.

I think the USA got a pretty good bargain all things considered.

Having said that, illegal aliens who commit crimes can and should be deported without recourse to a hearing. If they are criminal offenses, they should serve their full jail time and then be deported.

I agree with Bob, accept for:
quote:

.

How do we know they committed the crimes unless we have a hearing to determine that?

The problem with not allowing the children of illegal aliens any education is the fear of developing a serf/slave class in this country. If Jose can only get a job picking cotton because he has no education, and he works here for 10 years and has a daughter, what is her choices for the future? With no education available to her, she will become another cotton picker like her father. Sure, you can tell her to go home, but to her, this is her home. She knows nothing of the country her father came from, and has no future there either.

Before too many generations, we will have a class of uneducated people doing our dirt jobs and below minimum wage with no future, no hope, no rights.

Sorry... I meant "without a deportation hearing."

They should have hearings & trials to decide guilt or innocence in criminal matters.

Illegal aliens are entitled to a hearing, though they have to pay for a lawyer on their own.
