Little, cold gala apples straight from the fridge or my cold car. I buy them in a plastic mesh bag about fifteen at a time.

Galas are quickly becoming my favorite too.

But what is this "cold-car" you speak of.

I can't stand cold apples. Room temperature apples are awesome, but not cold...

I've never understood that expression. I was hoping for some explanation.

Ryan, your mind simply isn't lascivious enough if you don't get the comment...

Is that the origin? There has to be a "Wierd Expressions Explained" site on the Web here somewhere...

Well I guess I just assumed it came from the round firm shape of the apples... though I guess there could be two female body parts to which it might apply.

But breasts aren't shaped like apples.

YOURS aren't.

breasts aren't shaped like cupcakes, headlights, puppies, jugs, or cans, either.
and yet they are often referred to such.

not so sure that's where this specific phrase came from, though.

I love Golden delicious apples that are actually GOLDEN, not green. The green ones are a bit sour, but the golden ones are the perfect texture and wonderfully sweet. They would be the reason I'd live in California.

Galas and Fujis are the favorites here in our home. Unfortunately, it's hard to find Gala apples in the local stores, which is weird since they are *grown* here. [Grumble] But Fuji apples are pretty similar in taste, so we make do with them instead.

I doubt it originated from something that risque`. If I remember correctly, it was used as a pun in The Wizard of Oz, wasn't it?

According to some Googling, it's been used since the late 1920s, but I still don't know its exact origin.

Mmmm, apples. Tart apples with cheese. Granny Smiths. *drool*

Cold apples are ok, room temperature are ok, warm are not ok. [Smile]

I like apples best if they're oranges. [Razz] But if it has to be apples, then green. They MUST be green.

Hmm. I prefer green, but some red apples are ok. They must NOT be floury or soft however, they MUST be crisp and tart. It just isn't an apple, otherwise.

I think it's an apple kick. I buy a bag on the weekends and eat them during the week, every day at 3:00. I'm turning into Ariadne Oliver.

New apple variety, Honeycrisps. They were developed a couple years ago at the U of Minnesota, and are crisp and a little tart and a little sweet and just fabulous, but they have a very short season. I don't know if they're available in other parts of the country yet, but if you ever see them, try them! Delicious. And I'm not really fond of apples, as a rule.

If you see them, SEND THEM! [Smile]
