I just read this book (link provided through Hatrack if you're interested in purchasing and benefiting our hosts) by Steve Martin over the weekend. What a fun and touching story. It's only 160 pages or so, but a lovely bit of writing. I'm reminded of the line from L.A. Story (that he also wrote) where he says spending a day with him is enjoyable "because of the interesting word usements I structure".

Has anyone else read it?

I haven't gotten to it yet, but it's on my list. I really enjoyed Shopgirl.

I loved it, and immediately loaned it to Sara. [Smile] The plot is a bit worn at the knees, but there are some absolutely gorgeous turns of phrase -- and one or two observations that made me stop and wonder why I'd never made a conscious note of that before, something that happens very rarely to me while I'm reading.
