You know, Stormy, I feel that in order for a true revolution to occur, we need to go all the way. Accept no smilies whatsoever. I am an extremist, but how else can we push forward as humans if someone isn't here to hold the line. You let one smilie in, and the next thing you know, they have taken over.

For the most part, the use of smilies here has improved a LOT. No longer am I attacked by millions of bouncing multi-colored heads everytime I open a thread.

Once I learned not to read it as part of his posts (which can be a bit jarring in some threads), Hobbes smiley stopped bothering me. In fact, I sort of like it now.

I don't mind the smile, but it's sort of disorienting when he says something sad, like:

This isn't the same. Storm is ribbing Hobbes good naturedly; I doubt Hobbes is offended. Unlike the smilie debate, nobody is suggesting that dozens of Hatrackers have no life, because the use smilies, and that they should go to Teen Hatrack, aka PWEB.

Actually, this is more like the point on the cycle where John or somebody went after TomDavidson's use of "j/k [Wink] "
