I just found this website. The letter from Newline looks encouraging. [Big Grin]

I didn't know that the fan effort was as organized as this!!

I'm glad New Line is holding out for Jackson. The Hobbit movie can be much closer to the books than LotR had to be, and much lighter fare. There's only one main P.O.V., with a few exceptions that can become flashbacks pretty easily.

With any luck in can be PG, as well, since it was a children's book. The only really hard parts are the Battle of Laketown and the Battle of five Armies.

I hope MGM is willing to just take some money and stay out of the way.

Who would they have play Bilbo? Iam Holmes just looks too old to pull it off, I think.

Yeah, he said that the part he hated doing the most was Young Bilbo because they had to tape his face back for it.

And they couldn't keep that up for a whole movie.

they could make frodo-elijah look old pretty easily though...

I hope they could get Andy Serkis for Gollum again. Though Andy could probably do a decent Bilbo himself.

Wouldn't it be great to see him do a dual role of Bilbo and the CGI Gollum?

I bet he'd finally get the academy award he so richly deserves since he'd be a "real" actor
