Whoa...

I hope these are real. That'll throw the field off for a decade at least.

Maybe they're...compressed somehow.

This is awesome! Maybe it's a far simpler form of life than cellular life. Maybe it just uses RNA and not DNA. I am not surprised at all that there are living things that cause disease which nobody was previously aware of.

Brando suddenly began producing black gunk in his ears when he was about 5. It didn't culture or show any mites. Treating it with various things showed mixed results, but it always came back. Dr. George said he thought it was just something that happened in cats, that their ears sometimes decided to start producing junk, and that there was no disease agent present. Then Drive By came and after close contact with Brando she caught it too. So there is no question it was transmissable. Now that he's gone, and after treating her for a separate ear infection, I think she's finally gotten over it. Still no indication of what it ever was.

Bacteria, viruses, prions, why would anyone think we knew everything already? What we don't know about disease is still huge. What we DO know is actually very little.

There are people who try to say that viruses aren't alive. I think that's silly. If it reproduces, then natural selection will work on it. If it reproduces, it's alive.

I'm still going to go with exercise and balanced nutrition. I think this stuff is everywhere and a lot of the course of the disease involves the systemic strength of the host. But that's accupuncture mumbo jumbo.

"But what about the BOUSes?"

"Bacteria of unusual size? Don't think they exist."
