According to This article and others, but mostly Time Magazine, there is an E-Mail basically saying that "Haliburton will get the bid, after all, the VP's office is pushing it."

Three days later it won an multi-BILLION dollar bid where no one else was given a chance to compete. The result, millions in so-far discovered overcharges, and possibly crimminal activities on the ground.

Maybe he should change it to "Haliburton & Cheney--As Close as we've been told?"

How is "Closer than our trusted Vice President has admitted."

I love the one, uncommented on line:

quote:
A financial disclosure form obtained by CBSNews.com indicates that Cheney received deferred income from the firm after becoming vice president.

I believe this means that he still gets his income from Haliburton, but its in a trust fund until after he leaves office. Talk about building a nice little nest egg.

No it means that here is income that he was due that was put off until a later date. All above board.

I love the ads on the bottom of the page. Something for ZeroHalliburton luggage and a fiberoptic network for the city of Cheney. Brilliant googling. [Big Grin]

There's nothing new about this - I've known since shortly after the innauguration (or sometime that summer) that he was receiving deferred compensation from them for work already performed. Basically, it's retirement income.

By definition, deferred income must be for work already completed and be a "fixed" amount (I'm not sure what variables can go into the amount calculation).

Whatever, it's not news. It's olds. It is relevant to the article, but they really should have explained it better rather than leaving the innuendo there.

CBS/AP) A federal judge has declared the Partial-Birth Abortion Ban Act to be unconstitutional, saying the measure infringes on a woman's right to choose.

The ruling applies to the nation's 900 or so Planned Parenthood clinics and their doctors, who perform roughly half of all abortions in the United States.
