I thought I was on track with my Dreamweaver competence, and I've been using it to re-vamp a website I've been working on for a couple of months.

Now I don't know what in the name of all that's holy is going on with it. This page is supposed to have a list of all the artists, which are images with mouseovers to show a little thumbnail artwork. Originally, there were only 5 artists and their names were in a script font. I redesigned all the images and added 15 more artists, and in Dreamweaver re-built the page and uploaded all the new images. The new list of artists is in a sans-serif font... and it works in Safari. As soon as I look at it in Explorer, though, for some reason the old images are coming up, only five of them and in the old script font. The puzzling thing is this - I saved the new images with the same names as the old ones and replaced them when I uploaded. Why should they be coming up old in one browser and new in another???

What do you see? Does anyone have any idea what's going on here? Thanks.

I see artist names in a box with red X's next to them. Believe me I feel your pain. Your site still looks much better than mine.

I'm still on a pretty steep slope of the dreamweaver learning curve though it isn't quite as bad as it was.

Yeah, that's the same as I get in Explorer. Do any of the names show up in a script font by chance?

In Mozilla I see 20 names and when I mouse over them, they disappear.

In IE 6 I see 20 "x names" where x is the image placeholder and the name is the value of alt.

In IE they are links and in Mozilla they aren't (or at least they aren't after they disappear).

It seems like the page can't find the images in the current directory.

*cries*

When I look at my directory, though, they're all there!

Oh yeah, the names in Mozilla aren't in a script font.

can you "preview in IE" from dreamweaver on your own computer and see them? F12 I think.

Are the images in the same directory as the artists.html file? If they are then I have no idea what the problem could be.

Yeah, I can preview and I get the same problem, but only in Explorer. What I'm trying right now is going into photoshop and opening all the images and re-saving them under "save for web." Hoepfully that will do something.

Save for web saves them in gif format, which is also much smaller in file size because it doesn't save all the psd layers separately.

It is possible it might help though. I've never gotten a straight photoshop document to open right in internet explorer.

Currently they're jpgs, and in save for web I save them as jpgs, but for some reason one file shows a thumbnail in file lists and one shows a jpg icon. Don't know what the difference is but I'll see if it works.

I think it works *crosses fingers*

Does it work for you?

works for me. [Smile]

Works for me in both IE and Mozilla.

and all I did was re-save the images.....

I think I have a boggart in my server.

Thanks everyone!
