I saw this film after Ebert made an off-hand comment during his review of Harold and Kumar go to White Castle about John Cho, the actor who plays Harold. He starred in this movie about a year or so ago, and I'd never heard mention of it.

It's about a bunch of Asian high school students in the suburbs of California and their exploits while not studying for the SATs or AcDec. It's one of the more interesting films I've seen lately, and it held me to the very end.

The acting is great, and I love the cast. The situations, while certainly somewhat fantastic, are believable to the point where I can suspend most of my disbelief. The characters, especially the central figure, are intriguing and charismatic in their own way.

The story moves forward without feeling rushed, and is fairly well bookended. The feel of the movie is not overly stylized, but certainly professional.

I'd recommend it.

This movie is on my list of movies to watch/own. I haven't seen it yet, but I was originally interested because I heard it was the first and (I think) only completely Asian American movie, in terms of cast and crew. Not really sure though.
So now I have another reason to see it. Thanks for the recommendation, PC.
