Western Mass and area Hatrackers, even those of you from New Hampshire, how about a fall camping trip? I am planning to take my kids to the DAR, which is a beautiful campground, on a lake, surrounded by great hikes, yet not too far from a hopping town.(Northampton)

Get your campsites asap if you want to come. Or, I can reserve a group site. They are beautiful.

Kwea? Sarah?

Sarah, we can drive you, pay for you, all that. Basically adopt you for the weekend, if you want. We will even boil water for corn. What more can you ask?

Only if you bring foils again, Mack!

I don't know what my work schedule will be, but I will ask Jenni if she is working. If she has it off (50/50 chance, she works every/other weekend) then maybe we can make it. I usually go to the beach (Westerly is where my parents live), but maybe I can make an exception.

How hard-core camping is it? I don't know if Jenni has ever camped, at least not unless it is in a cabin. [Big Grin]

And that isn't really camping, to me....

Mack, I unintentionally pulled a classic bait and switch, sorry.

Of COURSE you can come. I said New England Hatrackers in the subject line, and W. Mass in the first post. Gah!

Kwea, the camping is tent camping. The sites are lovely, and close to showers and real toilets. There is a beautiful lake for rowboats and canoes, and many hiking trails. It is in Goshen, so you would go up Rte 9, past Williiamsburg. You can go there for day trips, like you can at Look Park. So, I would say the camping is a five on a rating of 1-10. 1 Being cushy hotel with a view of the mountains, 10 being a backpack trip into the back country for two weeks with no cell phone.

There is also a lovely place in S. Vermont called Jamaica campground, which has leantos, but I would bet they are long gone.

Website for "The DAR." (that is what we locals call it)

Kwea, if Jenni did not feel like camping, you guys could just come up for the day and evening, and then drive home at night.

*giggles*

Wow that is sweet. Luckily by then I'll be getting paid a "normal" amount again. Or at least that's what's supposed to happen.

I could probably be persuaded to go. But I'd need to wait until classes start to find out my schedule. I love camping it's great fun.

This semester is a make it or break it semester. I'm coming up for our qualification process and taking one of the harder classes. Thus, much of my life will involve staying up until all hours working.

Sarah,
As I said for Kwea and Jenni, you can always just come for the day, or for dinner. My kids have been bugging me to go, and it is the last weekend the park is open, so we will be there anyway. From Amherst, you would go rte 116 through Conway and Ashfield.

Jenni might be working, but even if she is perhaps we could do a day trip...I'll let you know more as we figure it out.

Sarah, I know where you live.

And I know people.

There.

The wedding is the last weekend in October! And there's no classes for Columbus day weekend, so I'm in.

Cool. I will check to see which sites are available.

Hmm. Not many sites left, and I am not sure which ones are good. I usually drive up there and pick them. They are all fine, just some are more secluded, which I like.

OK, I will get two sites.

Argh. I was going to do Friday through Sunday nights, but I think it will be dark by the time I get up there. So I will make them for two nights.

Mack, do you want to kidnap Sarah, or should I? We can set up a study tent for her.

Poop on a stick.

They will not let me reserve two sites under my name.

I have one, site #1, and I was going for site 2 which is right next to it. I will try to get in touch with Kwea tonight. If he and Jenni just want to come up for the day, we would not need another site, anyway. We have a good-sized tent, and can also take the seats out of the van for more sleeping space.

I have my two person tent. I love my tent.

That's funny, I was just in Northampton yesterday!

Sadly, I don't think I can come... [Frown]

Darn.

I think JenniK and I will be going up for a day trip, if we can come at all.

However, if you want to reserve a site, use my name to do it....as long as that is cool, ans I don't get billed for it... [Big Grin]
