...but you can't listen to it yet because I'm on dialup. It's going to take maybe a week to get all of the songs hosted (most likely as 160k MP3).

In any case. I'm working on an album cover and liner notes, hopefully to be completed tomorrow. I'm willing to ship copies of the album to those who want one on CD (obviously, I'll burn the discs from my uncompressed audio files rather than from the lossy MP3s), at least until it starts to significantly impact my wallet.

The album is called Idolatry. In essence, it's a tribute album. Here's a track list:

Untitled 1
Grind
Don't You Move
Guitar Syrup, with Coda
Dissolvent
Symbiont
Kowloon Heat
The Size of the World
Pretty Good
Meizi
Secret Song

I will update this thread on GreNME with links as the songs go up.

[Update: I'm uploading the last song now. Links to follow.]

[Update: Here is where the songs can be downloaded.]

Do I have to brag about how I'm cooler than everyone else because I've known you for something like 2 decades on every forum or can GreNME be my home base of asserting my coolness-by-association?

Edit: Your wish is my command! *bows* *scrapes* *scrabbles*

Woah, twinky, for a second there it looked like you signed the post with my screen name!

Come to think of it, I think we've had this conversation before...

Posted by twinky (Member # 693) on :

Nope, I just figured I'd cross-post so Zotto (among others) can see it. I may crosspost to Sakeriver as well just to be sure I catch everyone. Heck, maybe even Galactic Cactus...

What you CAN do, though, is stick the missing "you" into your sentence. I'm sure you can work out where it belongs [Razz]

We have, I think. [Smile]

It does sound vaguely familiar!

Heck, dude, GreNME's pretty much my forum home base these days, period. But feel free to brag anywhere you like. [Razz]

Raia, I'm pretty sure we have but I'll bet we can't find the thread...

Haha, that'll be a pretty big challenge... I dunno if we're up to it... [Wink]

I'll try though!

Found it... about halfway down the page (I have yet to learn how to link to a specific post)

I would love an album; email is on its way.

Good find, Raia [Smile]

I just went and listened to a couple of the versions you have on your website currently, and I would very much like an album. Would be happy to pay for it. I'm sending e-mail to the addy in your profile... if that's not right, please let me know. [Smile]

I would love an album, twinky... What are the chances of you bringing one to NZ for me? [Wink]

(If I don't get to see you, though, I'm happy to pay postage or whatever. [Smile] )

I'll also make sure Zotto sees this -- he's not around much at the moment, but I know he'd love one.

Tell you what, I'll bring one with me, and if we don't stop in Wellington I'll just mail it to you while I'm in NZ. [Smile] I'm hoping we can stop in Wellington, though, 'cause I think it would be fun to have a Hatrack.co.nz meet [Smile]

I'd love an album, Twink. I'd also be more than happy to pay for shipping or whatever. [Smile]

(Thanks for linking me to this thread, Kylie. [Smile] )

Btw, twinky, with all my talking about names and stuff, I didn't address the rest of your post... I might be interested in buying one too, once you get the details figured out!

Posted by twinky (Member # 693) on :

Well, for the people who feel like they MUST pay for at least some of the shipping costs (which, by the way, is the limit of what I will allow anyone to pay for this particular record, it is quite literally a labour of love and I refuse to accept payment for it), I do have a PayPal account. If you're going to be insistent I can provide you with that sort of info.

The cover art and liner notes are coming along nicely and should be done in the next few days. I still need to buy cases but after that I can begin making shipments.

The liner notes will say "copyright 2004" on them, but the copyright probably won't go through until November sometime. Needless to say, since I'm giving this away for free, I'm not going to prosecute anyone who infringes the copyright by making copies for someone else. [Razz] (Especially since the songs will be available as a free download on my website -- which reminds me, I really need to get my website cleaned up.)

I should add, by the way, that the discs themselves won't be fancy-schmancy. Just burned copies of the album from the raw AIFF files with the name and author written on them in permanent marker. I don't really have the time before my trip to NZ to get custom discs pressed, and in any case I view that as more of a second album thing. [Razz]

Posted by twinky (Member # 693) on :

Right, the cover art is done, the copies are made, each is in its own padded envelope with a note, and they will all be placed in the mail tomorrow. [Smile]

Plus the copyright application form has been downloaded (though not filled out or filed).

This needs to be bumped. Go. Listen. Now.

"Name and author written on them in permanent marker."

and, um, they are signed, right? So when you're famous we'll all have autographed copies of your first album?

Not in the "signature" sense, no, but then my signature sucks and is relatively inconsistent.

However, I was packaging the discs late at night and forgot to test them in my parents' stereo before sealing the packages, so on the off chance the disc doesn't actually WORK I can send you a copy with my "signature" on it.

I'm just excited that it's done [Big Grin]

Congrats on finishing the album! I was able to download the songs from the site just fine, so there's no need to send me a disc. It sounds pretty good so far. I'm diggin' the amplitude tribute. [Smile]

I'm not terribly good at either game, but I love remixing. [Big Grin]

My album is here! Woot! I am thrilled!

Thank you! *listenshappily*
