Is this where we're going to hang out while we what for the Cactus to come back up?
I guess it's going to get a bit busier here for a while.
Thank goodness for Cactus spinoffs like this one, or I don't know what I would do.

According to Jon Boy at Sakeriver, I believe so.

Joe, you're a funny guy. j/k
P.S. It's still down.

Actually, it's working for me, with some new feature about only being accessible to the pure in heart.
Posted by mr_porteiro_head (Member # 4644) on :
Is it down again?
Posted by Jon Boy (Member # 4284) on :
It was down a bit this morning. First the database server went down, and the rest followed shortly. I guess my host is just having one of those days.

Anybody else having trouble getting to GC?
Posted by mr_porteiro_head (Member # 4644) on :
It's busted.

So if you can get in there is obviously some bugs in the decection software as well, then. Posted by Noemon (Member # 1115) on :
They must have fixed the bug--Annie hasn't been able to log onto GC for a long time now.
It seems to be back up, by the way.
Posted by pooka (Member # 5003) on :
Still having trouble.
Posted by Noemon (Member # 1115) on :
Yeah, me too. It seems to be up and down today. I'll take that as a sign that the Powers that Be are aware of the problem and are working on it.
Posted by Jon Boy (Member # 4284) on :
Problem? Aware? I have no idea what's going on. Maybe I'll submit a ticket with my host.
Posted by Noemon (Member # 1115) on :
Looks like the Cactus is ailing this morning.
Posted by El JT de Spang (Member # 7742) on :
Must be something going around.
Posted by pooka (Member # 5003) on :
Do you think it was the nested quotes or the prolonged mafia standoff?
Posted by Noemon (Member # 1115) on :
Probably the nested quotes. You know how hard those can be on a forum.

For real.

Here I go again on my own! Da na DA DA Posted by mr_porteiro_head (Member # 4644) on :
I think the mafia killed it.
Posted by pooka (Member # 5003) on :
Ahem. Do you really want to go there? Craig?
P.S. Maybe it was the staring contest between men and kojabu's avatars.
P.P.S. "Here I go again" is one of the songs on Karaoke Revolution Party. I don't think we have a diamond record for it yet. But I need to shower first.
Posted by El JT de Spang (Member # 7742) on :
Ah, Whitesnake. We hardly knew ye.

Show me your evidence.
Oh, it's all on GC? How convenient.
Posted by pooka (Member # 5003) on :
How do you know what to say without checking your PMs? It's amazing.

I told you people to keep to one thread, but did you listen? Of course not. And now look what you've done.
Posted by Noemon (Member # 1115) on :
I've changed my mind. I think that the forum died of a broken heart. The poor thing hasn't been able to hold itself together since Jon Boy passed away a couple of weeks ago.

*snort*

Last night I dreamed I was the next mafia hit, and the doctor didn't guess right.

Fear not, my friend, for GalacticCactus has returned from the grave, just as I have!

It's aliiiiiive!
::cue dramatic flash of lightning and subsequent thunder clap::

Huh, and I had gone and learned some stuff. Well, I'll post the outline here.
Dallas is the 9th largest US city with 1.2 mill. D.C. "proper" is .57 mill, with a "metro" area of 5.4 mill.
Salt Lake is .17-.18 million (It is apparently shrinking) with a metro area of .9 million.
I know Dallas is often lumped in with Arlington/Ft. Worth, but I don't know if the result expands the population 4 or 10 fold. Okay, 4 fold in the 12 counties surrounding. Of course, if you went 12 counties around Salt Lake or Washington that would change their numbers somewhat as well.
Posted by Icarus (Member # 3162) on :
I think it's not just about population, though, but about what kind of "industry" takes place. Washington, as the nation's largest producer of BS, naturally needs more editors and professional writers and such.
Posted by katharina (Member # 827) on :
I completely agree. Washington's largest product is paper. Of course they need more editors. Posted by mr_porteiro_head (Member # 4644) on :
My GC broke. Posted by Tante Shvester (Member # 8202) on :
You broke it with your pointy triangles. Posted by Jon Boy (Member # 4284) on :
What's he supposed to do, file the edges off? They wouldn't exactly be triangles then, would they?
Posted by Tante Shvester (Member # 8202) on :
It just kills me how you are all trying to convince each other that you're really not just a bunch of colorless squares.
