I have got to find some Jewish friends, just to finally find out what all these strange foods are.

Latkes are yummy.

Jelly donuts, not so much.

Silly Dagonee. Sufganiyot (filled donuts) are great! I particularly like them with raspberry jam. Or custard . . . mmmmmmmmmmm.

We had latkas today for dinner, yum!

Any religous significance for them? I'm not Jewish, or Christian...lol.

I get to make latkes with a friend of mine on Sunday. I am looking forward to it. [Smile]

Well if custard counts, I could be persuaded. [Smile]

I want a donut. [Frown]

Dana, so do I! I think I'll have time to get to the bakery tomorrow. *drool*

The religious significance of both latkes and sufganiyot is the oil they are fried in. The miracle of Chanukah (well, one of the miracles) centers on oil, so we fry stuff! [Big Grin]

I didn’t want to take time to make real donuts, so I buttered a piece of bread on both sides, fried it golden brown, sprinkled it with sugar and put a little bit of cream cheese frosting and a spoonful of raspberry preserves on top. Yummy! [Smile]

Oooh, I might try that! Sounds great.

I love latkes, and I love donuts - but I scraped the jelly out of my donut. [Razz]

Duplicate Chanukah thread [Big Grin]

Plantain latkes, interesting idea. Don't they come out a bit sweeter than potato latkes, though?

I'd just like to say that this is excellent logic. [Smile]

My bet is that Homer Simpson is the culprit.
