Are there any Hatracker Cons in So. Cal? I just hate to be left out of the fun... [Cry]

Posted by Raia (Member # 4700) on :

I believe there are about 30... [Razz]

Well, not quite, but I can think of QUITE a number!

Posted by rivka (Member # 4859) on :

Dunno 'bout thirty, but there is one next month. I hope you can join us, Alt. [Smile]

Posted by ketchupqueen (Member # 6877) on :

Yeah, please come! I want to meet you! And then you can chew me out for repeatedly screwing up your groove in the Hatrack Story. [Wink] [Razz]

Posted by Papa Moose (Member # 1992) on :

Hey, Alt. The Moose clan will be in San Diego at some point over the holidays. If you can't make the park shinda, maybe we could still meet you. Y'know, in case you wanna become "real."

Wow, that puts us up to, what, 4, maybe 5 denizens of Hatrack, plus families? Cool. [Big Grin]

*anxiously awaits*

Posted by rivka (Member # 4859) on :

LadyDove (and family?) is coming too? Excellent! [Big Grin]

Posted by ketchupqueen (Member # 6877) on :

Wow, this is becoming a genuine shinda, with plenty of people.

We should have a sign or something. [Big Grin]

And I'm bringing my camera. Just to warn you all.

The San Diego one I might be able to go. Where is it at? I'm at El Cajon.

Posted by ketchupqueen (Member # 6877) on :

I don't know that anything official is planned in San Diego yet; why don't you start a thread and start suggesting places, I'm sure you and Papa Moose can work something out. [Smile]

Posted by Altáriël of Dorthonion (Member # 6473) on :

sure!

Posted by Altáriël of Dorthonion (Member # 6473) on :

about how many people would go though?

Posted by imogen (Member # 5485) on :

And I'm still thinking you should come to Australia. Perth, specifically.

Aus-con?

[Smile]

I don't know, AofD. If we had a little more time, we'd go, but it's a 2 to 3 hour drive down from where we'll be, depending on what part of San Diego, and our time is booked up enough as it is. I don't think we'd be able to make it. [Frown]

the the place is set up already?
@.@ could you please tell me everything you know about the event?

Posted by ketchupqueen (Member # 6877) on :

Huh? I'm sorry, I'm confused...

Posted by ketchupqueen (Member # 6877) on :

I was talking about where my family and I will be staying when we go out to CA.

What were you asking?

Posted by Altáriël of Dorthonion (Member # 6473) on :

What the event is about, when it will take place, where you've set up your reservations, etc.

Posted by ketchupqueen (Member # 6877) on :

The Griffith Park Shinda?

It's just a picnic that everyone is welcome to come to if they can make it. Bring your own food, meet at 1:30 pm on Sunday, Jan. 2 near the Griffith Park Carousel in LA.

No reservations necessary since it's not overnight.

My husband and daughter and I were going out to LA anyway because that's where my family lives. If I'm not mistaken, we'll be the only out-of-staters, since kat can't make it.

Per request, I am posting that the Shinda scheduled for Sunday January 2nd appears to be in grave and imminent danger of being rained out. Rivka's house is probably going to be the new venue. We could say Griffith Park if it isn't raining, with rivka's house as a backup, but even if it isn't raining it will undoubtedly be pretty wet. Thus, I believe rivka's house has become plan A. She said she will e-mail directions tomorrow night to all who plan on attending (except kq, who I believe got the information over the phone today). Thus, anyone planning on attending should probably make it very clear in this thread that they need directions, so rivka knows to whom she should send them.

Time is the same -- only location has changed. Any questions? No? Good! (Informationally, it will probably be only me and Mooselet from our household -- Mama and Superstation will likely remain home. *snif*)

An additional complication: We may or may not be contagious.

The younger DD (age 5) came home with a fever on Friday, and at this point her temperature is only slightly (less than half a degree) elevated. However, since I thought it was a 24-hour bug, and would be fully gone by now (and thus there would be the requisite 24-hours sick-free before y'all showed up tomorrow), I thought I would warn everyone. If she IS still (even slightly) sick tomorrow, she will be staying upstairs in her bed and not joining us all downstairs -- and I think she's well on the mend.

The older DD, who I thought might be coming down with it (and kept from going to a friend's house today), in spite of her protestations that she felt fine -- well, the thermometer says she is correct. [Dont Know] I guess the mommy-kiss method of temperature detection doesn't work on her. She must be warm-blooded or something. [Wink]

In conclusion: y'all are MORE than welcome, and I don't THINK we have excess germs to give away, but I prefer to warn people -- especially people with small children.

Alas, I must slave over my accounting books tomorrow instead of going out to play.

Posted by rivka (Member # 4859) on :

Aw. We'll (the locals, at least) have to get together again sometime when you can come, LadyDove.

Posted by Papa Moose (Member # 1992) on :

I must admit a bit of reticence. We already went through our family being sick this winter, and I'm not anxious to repeat. Are ketchupqueen and family still going to be there? I mean, rivka and her chidrins are nice and all, but we've met them before. And I expect there will be plenty of opportunity to see them again. For kq we'll risk the sickness, though, because she came from so far away.

So... anyone heard from her?

--Pop

Posted by rivka (Member # 4859) on :

*nod* I definitely understand that. Unfortunately, the only way I have to contact kq is via email -- or if she calls me.

I have emailed her, and not heard back. [Dont Know]

Posted by rivka (Member # 4859) on :

Received an email from kq. She says:

quote:
We are still planning on coming tomorrow; please post for me that we will be there, and explain that I can't post on Hatrack because of my dad's computer, but that I'm very excited. I just got your e-mail because we're having an open house going on over here right now.
So it looks like we're on! And the good news is, as of just before when the youngest went to bed, her temperature is normal, and so is everyone else's.

Ok, well in the past hour and a nalf or so, I've started feeling pretty crappy. Let's hope a good night's sleep takes care of that. And that I get a good night's sleep.

Posted by rivka (Member # 4859) on :

[Eek!] Feel better!

See, doing our best to make sure you don't get sick here does NOT mean you should get sick elsewhere!

Posted by Papa Moose (Member # 1992) on :

<Feeling better.>

Mooselet and I -- pretty definite. Mama and Superstation -- probably not, but not impossible yet.

Posted by littlemissattitude (Member # 4514) on :

Sorry that I won't be able to make it. Although the sun was shining when I woke up this morning, the weather report I heard has a 50 percent chance of rain this afternoon and an 80 percent chance this evening. So, as much as I'd like to be there, better not, as Highway 99 and the Grapevine can get really ugly in the rain. Also, the Grapevine has been getting shut down due to snow off and on for the past week, and this storm is supposed to be colder than the ones earlier in the week were.

Maybe next time?

Posted by Papa Moose (Member # 1992) on :

Ok. Mooselet and I -- Lord willin' and the creek don't rise enough to close the roads. Mama and Superstation a definite no. Sorry we won't see you, littlemiss, but we'll hope for another time. And I don't know what the percentage chance was here earlier, but it's a 100% chance of rain now.

lma, sorry we'll miss you, but I wouldn't want to drive that far in the rain either. Next time!

My littlest seems to be ok, but was warm at 1 am when she came to snuggle with me (she usually doesn't wake up at night). So I think she'll be upstairs, away from potential expose-ees.

And the other two are probably getting spirited away for at least part of the time by their dad.

But the _______ Family Campgrounds ( [Wink] ) will be open and waiting! See y'all later. [Smile]
