So for quite some time now, Mooselet has been informing me and Mama that he wants to be a firefighter when he grows up. Reasonable, since he has several relatives who do or did work in the firefighting arena, and he was a firefighter for Halloween this year.

This morning, though, the following conversation:
quote:
"I'm going to be an astronaut when I grow up this time, ok?"

"Pal, you can be whatever you want to be when you grow up, if you work at it."

<He pauses and thinks for a moment.>

"Can I be a stay-at-home dad?"

I melted.

That is the sweetest thing EVER.

However, if he is a firefighter and wears his fire suit, he will be a serious babe magnet.

Which is no different from now. [Smile]

Hey, I say he can be the stay-at-home dad, but still wear the fireman uniform. All the chick magnetism, plus it's great for protecting against the unexpected piddle!

That gave me chills. [Big Grin]

Posted by Papa Moose (Member # 1992) on :

That's odd, Zeugma. Unexpected piddle is usually warm.

He does have to be one of the sweetest little boys ever. It really made my day getting to spend time with him (and the rest of you too [Wink] ), especially when, after being there for not much more than an hour, he said he loved me. [Big Grin]

Edit: Oh, PIDDLE, not PRIDE. Never mind. [Big Grin]

I'm just trying to figure out

A) What gave Z the chills, and

B) If Kat means she has the hots for firemen, or for Mooselet.

C) If I really want to know the answers to either question.

Pop, you are a lucky man indeed!

My son is truly my sun and am hoping that our third child, which is only 8 weeks along, is as healthy and pleasant as the first two.

P.S. Can I borrow someone's firefighter outfit? I need to do some....hands on....research with my wife.

Carl is going to grow-up to be someone very special. I love the fact that he only chooses professions where he can be a true hero. Pop, it's easy to see, when he looks at you, that he knows you're a hero. It makes sense he'd want to be just like you.

Trust me when I say, fire fighters are indeed hot. [Big Grin]

I want to be a stay at home dad. Or an actuary.

Mooselet has always been one of the cutest kids I've ever met.

Noemon, that puddle of mack is a lot like the giant green flesh-eating lily pad in Creepshow.

Just sayin'.

I'm not sure the uniform did that much for him. Maybe because it was a little bit too big? He's still cute, though. *smile*

*remelts*

Posted by rivka (Member # 4859) on :

I don't think it's the size, but the color. He needs a red uniform, I think.

SO CUUUUUTE!!!

Posted by BelladonnaOrchid (Member # 188) on :

That's adorable, PappaMoose. However, when he gets older, my step-mother will be attracted to him, as she loves firemen. [Angst]

Is Mooselet really old enough that he's thinking about what he wants to be when he grows up? ...Wow, time goes by fast.

Posted by Noemon (Member # 1115) on :

I'm in more trouble than I thought then mack. Anything I can do to appease it, or am I doomed?

Posted by Noemon (Member # 1115) on :

By the way, I was thinking while doing dishes yesterday about Mooslet saying that to you, Moose, and actually misted up.

Carl should be in ad campaigns or something. What a cute kid! That fireman garb suits him well.

You are so fortunate that you get to be with him so much and enjoy these times. Thanks for sharing them with us too!

He is so cute, but Sasha is cuter.

Well, Pop, that just goes to show how good a stay-at-home Dad you are. [Big Grin]

I had a similar experience with Emily once, when she was talking about whether or not to be a doctor or a nurse. She said she really wanted to work with bones, because they were so cool, she wanted to be the person that when a little kid broke their arm, she fixed it for them.

I told her that she would probably want to be a doctor then, because it was the doctor who would do the surgery to actually fix the bone, and that what she was describing was the job of a pediatric orthopedic surgeon.

She said that sounded great. Then she paused for a second and said "But, Mom, if I do that, I still get to be a mother too, right?" I told her yes, she could. She said, "Good. Because I don't want to be a doctor if it means I can't be a mother. And when my kids are little, I'll just stop being a doctor for a while, so I can be home and love them like you did for us."

[Cry] Kids are the most awesome things in the world.

My daughter wants to be a Tarantula Arachnocologist. [Angst]

(((mooselet)))

Superstation's what, 18 months now?

Posted by dread pirate romany (Member # 6869) on :

He is just adorable!

Posted by Papa Moose (Member # 1992) on :

Superstation is 13 months.

As to why he wants to be a stay-at-home dad, I'm wondering if he thinks that means you get to sit around in your underwear all day, watch TV and drink beer.

Not that he'd get that idea from me, mind you....

[Big Grin] Yeah, the summer of 2003 was a blur. Pretty much the whole year was. I don't remember anything happening between the Salt Lake winter Olympics and the election. I'm getting old.

Posted by rivka (Member # 4859) on :

Pop, then you need to play him this a few times.

Posted by Papa Moose (Member # 1992) on :

I need to play him a recipe for flan?

Was that (perhaps) supposed to link to the "Mr. Mom" song by Lonestar? That's a catchy tune. *smile*

Posted by rivka (Member # 4859) on :

*kicks cut and paste function* That's twice in two days. I need to check my links.

And I was actually trying to link to the video of the song. The animation is even better than the lyrics. [Big Grin]

Hey, at least he doesn't want to be a firetruck when he grows up. [Razz]

(That was aimed at my husband, who has now taken to reading my posts.)

Hey what wrong with wanting to be a firetruck when I grow up?! Especially a nifty transformers one!

Posted by ketchupqueen (Member # 6877) on :

Well, it was actually cute-- when my husband was 3.

Luckily, he outgrew that urge. Otherwise, who knows what kind of freakish surgeries he would have had by now. [Wink]

So, Pop, do you wear him on a chain around your neck?
