It looks as though we're not going to be able to get out tomorrow due to the snow. I still need some kind of candies for the kiddos' stockings. Does anyone have any super easy ideas? I don't have any flour, but I do have sugar, cocoa, and misc. cooking ingredients. Thanks!!

There is an old-fashioned one where you knead powdered sugar into mashed potatoes.
Could you bake cookies?
Do you have cream -- carmelize the suagr, make caramels?
A ganache to make truffles (roll in nuts)?
Rice Krispie treats or haystacks?

Lollipops. You'll need food coloring or some flavor essences, so this may not work.
just go to Wal-Mart and get some Oreos or something and put them in a Ziploc bag.......thats what my parents did.......of course i make no bake cookies now.......i couldn't tell you the recipe.......i know it by heart so.......and i don't have it written down......maybe someone else here knows.......you'll have to do it really late after they fall asleep and hide them though

I've loved these ever since we had to watch Mulligan Stew in 4th grade.

Oh, yeah, Dag. Mmmmm ...
But I vote for popcorn balls -- always a huge hit at our house.
Do you have popcorn?

Oooh - I do have one bag of microwave popcorn! That should work, right? What a cool idea.
The no-bakes or flourless peanut butter cookies should work as well. Thanks a ton, guys!
On a side note, we also forgot to buy extra wrapping paper before the storm hit - which means quite a few of their gifts will be wrapped in newspaper.

edit: Steve, we just got 24 inches of snow. There will be no getting out of the driveway, off our several mile long gravel road, and into a Wal-Mart anytime soon.

Do you know how to carmelize sugar for the popcorn balls? (it'll be a great sweet/salty mix)
You can also wrap presents in fabric, if you are a craft hoarder.

If you have a microwave, caramelizing sugar is a breeze.

I tend to do things a little different. I make a chocolate caramel glaze for popcorn. Um, I don't have a recipe - I just fake it. But if you want it, I can make something up for you.
