I'm alive? Yeah, I think I am. Wow that was weird, but anyway.....how is everyone and what do they think of all these end of the year shows? I personally think that the year went pretty well, except for the fact that Bush got reelected. Any complaints......ooh and New Year's Resolutions.....anyone got any?

I didn't forget you. Your that guy that posted that thing about how fast people respond to threads..

See, see, I remember!

Bush getting elected.. [Grumble] Yep, that's my major complaint.

I'm a little stressed. But I think that's pretty understandable given the circumstances. If you're at a loss, go here.

OK well........New Year's Resolutions.........what are they and are you going to keep them?

My resolution is to not make any resolutions, and I'm pretty confident in my ability to keep it.

I'm alive? Yeah, I think I am. "

Well, I know I am, and lucky to be. My resolution is to try to be able to run again, and to do jumping jacks.

Resolutions:

No cocaine
No murder
No felonies
Get married

Since I'm a (reasonably) well-behaved, engaged college student, all four of those goals are very easily attainable for me.

My five:

1. Produce tangible fruits of my labors [each day before 9am].

2. Continue to pursue health in mind and body [eat healthy food, drink 8x8oz glasses of water per day, exercise daily, cultivate and treasure healthy relationships].

3. Write letters to those I love [on Sundays].

4. Speak with more passion [speak truth to power with a stronger and better informed voice].

5. Listen with more respect [talk less, listen more, ask questions].

Edited for specificity of goals. [Smile]

*in awe of Sara*

Can I borrow your New Years Resolutions? [Smile]
One addition:

6. Set aside time each week to do something that I love and/or something for me.

Okay, maybe two, but seven goals are pushing it.

7. Challenge my beliefs and journal my thoughts.

And an addendum to 3. show those I love that I love them in some tangible way, be it physical, spoken or written.

Edit: Well, maybe 8, but I think this one wraps into the previous ones.

8. Be a good example and a good parent to Sophie.

*laugh* Okay, now I just need to stop reading Hatrack.

9. Seeing Eljay's thread reminded me that I had resolved to put money into my IRA for retirement, and I guess coupled with that is to keep aware of my finances and be more proactive about appropriating our "disposable income"

Sara, I think I'm going to need some help. [Smile]

1. Get myself to sit down and write at least 30 minutes a day (I know, it's not much, but it's more than I do right now)
2. Learn to play the Piano
3. Learn how to be myself with people I don't really know all that well, as well as people I DO know that well.

I'm still conflicted on the whole subject of New Year's resolutions. I'll have to think about it some more. I'm still off chocolate and sweets since April. I'd like to make one resolution to be a better housekeeping but I'm not sure if I've got a grasp on the process of change necessary. On the other hand, I'm pretty sure intellectual insight is never going to solve this problem for me.

I also want to be Sara when I grow up.

As Katie, my New Years' Resolution is to attend a Sound of Music Sing-A-Long dressed as a brown paper package tied up with string.

I've got a book list and a stitching list for the year, and I [b]WILL[.b] lose a minimum of 25 pounds this year. The doctor wants me to lose a total of 50 pounds (from where I was in September 04) so I can stay on Depo (although he didn't give me a target date), my ultimate target is to lose 75 pounds from that point. And yes I can absolutely stand to lose that weight, and I'm not expecting it to happen fast or without a fight. But I've lost 19 so far so I'm doing good. Losing another 25 would put me at 44 total, which is almost the doctor's goal for me.

1. Swim 100 laps per week.
2. Rejoin Weight Watchers and stick to their program.

I like these kinds of resolutions better than "I will lose X pounds by date Y," since they prevent me from obsessing over the scale. If I stick to these, the rewards will come on their own.
