We are planning based on a 67% positive RSVP rate. With 16% of the precincts reporting, we are at 53%. Woo Hoo!

Wow. That's so incredibly geeky. [Big Grin]

The exit polling with wedding invitations is horribly inaccurate - don't rely on it.

Posted by Ryuko (Member # 5125) on :

Ho ho. Now I have to find mine, so I can RSVP. Haha. Ha.

(looks frantically)

Posted by Icarus (Member # 3162) on :

um, I got your invitation but I haven't RSVPed.

do i need to?

Posted by dkw (Member # 3264) on :

By mail, phone, or e-mail. [Wink]

I already counted everybody in the wedding party as a "yes."

The thread title reminds me of the Simpsons episode when the family goes on public access TV and the geeky operator yells, "The switchboard is lighting up!" [Smile]

Can I tell you that my mom might be coming too? She was a little ehhh... but I know she likes weddings, and she did express some genuine interest in coming if she didn't have to work or anything.

Now I can keep my RSVP stuff for posterity sake. Someday I will auction it off on Ebay for boocoo bucks.

Posted by mackillian (Member # 586) on :

Does this include the photographer?

...we put the invitation in a very safe place.

We're currently trying to find that very safe place.

Ryuko – let me know about your Mom when you know for sure. We’d, of course, love to have her there since she was at our second not-date. [Big Grin]

Mack – no problem. You still have to tell us what you’re charging us, though.

afr -- it’s pathetic, I know. I was never one of those girls who dreamed about and planned her someday-wedding, but I’m getting all wedding-geeky now.

It's also a stress relief -- we sent a lot of invitations to relatives and co-workers that we didn't really expect to be able to come. If they surprized us and all came it would be pretty crowded at the reception. It's good to see that our guesses of who would and wouldn't come are (so far) pretty accurate.

19% reporting, we are at 61% positive.

[Cool]

And we met with the caterer yesterday to finalize the menu. There will be cheesecake. And fruit on little sticks.

Um, I haven't gotten an invite. Did you not send me one?

Posted by dkw (Member # 3264) on :

Mom had yours. I thought she was going to mail it, but maybe not. [Dont Know]

Posted by ElJay (Member # 6358) on :

Well, if I don't get one, I ain't coming.

Finally remembered to mail mine yesterday.

(I could have e-mailed, but hated for that "I love you" stamp to go to waste....)

Dana, is there any possible way you could send Xavier and I an offical invite? You gave an unoffical ok a long time ago and I really think we would be able to make it.

Are there any hotel rooms left?

Posted by dkw (Member # 3264) on :

Certainly. You don't need a paper invite to come (Hatrackers are automatically invited), but if it would make you feel more welcome I'd be glad to send one.

e-mail your address to me at dkw275 AT hotmail DOT com.

It's faintly possible that I'll be able to get away for this. As the chances of my attending seemed pretty remote, I haven't been keeping up on all the planning threads. When's the date? I have a gerneral idea, of course, butr nothing specific. What's the hotel situation? How last minute can I be in offering a firm yes or no on whether I'll be able to make it?

Edit--okay, I got some information from ElJay's thread on coordinating everyone's arrival. Saturday, April 2nd at 4:00 in Ames Iowa.

Now I just need to track down the Hotel thread and see what's up with that.

On the official RSVP deadline, we have received exactly 100 RSVPs. Which represents approximately 60% of the invitations sent out.

The numbers look good. We might even be able to get away with not setting up tables on the dance floor and evicting those people from their seats after dinner.

Posted by Elizabeth (Member # 5218) on :

Dana, did you get mine? I gave it to teve to send, and he thought he had, but was not sure. You should have gotten it by now.

Liz, no.

Does that mean it's okay I'm not coming? Or are you going to give it to me the day before or something?

Posted by dkw (Member # 3264) on :

It means I'm assigning the maid of honor to talk to the mother of the bride and make sure all the invitations were sent and/or delivered.

Hi, Dana. [Smile] I will put the paper copy in the mail tomorrow just so you have it to confirm, but as I said at the Glorious Night of Henna, I'll be there for the wedding, but not the reception.

At least, definitely not eating and not needing a seat. My tummy has been wacking out lately, and I'll be wanting to drive back that night anyway. Can't stay too late with that. But I can't wait to see the two of you wed and see your family again!

I heard from my brother (who, by the way, DID get an invitation) and he's sending in all the tux measurements. He's the best man and all three of my nephews are going to be groomsmen. How cool!

And I found out from one of her daughters that it's likely my wonderful great aunt from Syracuse is probably going to attend. Whoa! This is amazing!!!

I wish I could get her to cook for all of you. Yum!

[Party]

I just got back from the post office and we have crossed the safety line – even if every single outstanding RSVP comes back positive we will be below the maximum capacity of the hall.

We’ll still need a few more negatives to make up for any Hatrackers or people from church who haven’t yet told me they’re coming, but I think we’re in the clear.

Hey, I emailed you an RSVP!

But since you're counting me anyway, I won't get too indignant. [Razz]

Mommy would probably kill me if I didn't show. But when do I get my stamp? You forgot it again last weekend...

Posted by Stray (Member # 4056) on :

Forgive me if I'm being too forward here, but was there an open invitation to all of Hatrack to attend this blessed event? I would love love love to come, but I don't want to be rude and just invite myself along.

Hey dana, I'm coming [Razz] [Wink] .

Posted by dkw (Member # 3264) on :

Hmm. I wonder how many other people hotmail filtered out. [Angst]

Posted by fugu13 (Member # 2859) on :

Uh, so, Stray, how would you be traveling?

Posted by ElJay (Member # 6358) on :

Stray: There have been several open invitations. Come. [Smile]

(I'm sure dkw beat me to it.)

Posted by dkw (Member # 3264) on :

Stray, there is indeed an open invitation. You would be very welcome.

Posted by Stray (Member # 4056) on :

Wheee! Okay, it's pretty short notice (the wedding's the first weekend in April, right?), but I'm gonna try to make it. I think in AJ's "who's riding with me?" thread she said she still had a seat open. I'll email her about that.

So, uh, can I still get a motel room, or will someone be nice enough to let me sleep on the floor of their room...?

Posted by fugu13 (Member # 2859) on :

Would you fly or drive up to chicago?

Posted by rivka (Member # 4859) on :

Hotel info.

And thanks for the reminder! I finally just remembered to book a room while it was during business hours!

Posted by punwit (Member # 6388) on :

I thought that Boon was coming too.

Posted by dkw (Member # 3264) on :

Whoops. I think she is.

Posted by Stray (Member # 4056) on :

Fugu, I'll probably either fly or, if it's feasible, take the train (never done that before though). My car's having transmission trouble, so I wouldn't feel right depriving the household of one of the remaining functional ones for a long weekend. Have you made your arrangements yet?

Posted by fugu13 (Member # 2859) on :

Not quite yet, I'm definitely taking a plane if I can't find a car ride. I'll probably buy tickets soon.

Posted by Xavier (Member # 405) on :

I once again wanted to extend the invitation Nicole and I posted on another thread (perhaps I should make another?). We will be driving from Omaha to Des Moine and then up to the wedding, so we could easily give a lift from the airport to up to 3 people. We are leaving for the hotel sometime on Friday the first and heading back home (with a possible stop at the airport) on sunday.

Or if anyone finds cheaper tickets to Omaha, we can pick you up here.

Posted by ElJay (Member # 6358) on :

Xavier, I'm keeping track of who needs pick-ups/drop-offs and who is offering in the Wedding Arrival times thread, and I'll match people up as needed when it looks like everyone's posted their times in/out. At the moment, there seems to be only two people who are flying into Des Moines and not renting cars, so if you and Val are coming through to pick up one and Farmgirl or Boon get the other, we're golden. [Smile]

Posted by Farmgirl (Member # 5567) on :

Yeah - at the moment if I pick up anyone ON THE WAY up to Ames, I can only take one, because there will already be three people in my vehicle. However, if I go to Ames first and drop off some of my load, then I can make a trip back to the airport, no problem.

Farmgirl

Posted by rivka (Member # 4859) on :

ElJay, am I one of the two you are counting? Am I not getting in earlier than the driving-in people? [Confused]

Posted by ElJay (Member # 6358) on :

Yuo are one of the people I am counting. I'm not sure what time the driving in people will be passing through... FG probably won't be able to get you, but Val and Xavier might. But if they can't, I will pick you up myself. [Smile] One of them will probably have to take you back, though, because I'll have to leave before you will be in order to make it up here for the post-wedding family dinner and debriefing. [Big Grin]

Posted by Xavier (Member # 405) on :

You know, me and Val picking up rivka (and returning her to the airport) would be perfect, since I owe her a ride, and will never be able to return the favor any other way [Smile] .

Surely I was only referring to the suitcases, punwit!

Xav, if that works out for you two, it would be great! [Smile]

Posted by Xavier (Member # 405) on :

I don't see any reason why it wouldn't work for us rivka. So long as our schedules line up (though we can adjust to accommodate you). We're driving in sometime on Friday and driving home sometime on Sunday. So as you can see, we're pretty flexible [Wink] .

When you flying in/out?

Edit: Oh and I have been told that we can bring two people max. I was thinking three in the back seat, but I didn't consider luggage. So two max.
