I've mentioned elsewhere that I am writing training manuals for work. I freely admit I don't know what I'm doing, though I've written documentation casually for years. This is a bit bigger than I'm competent to cope with. But there isn't anyone else to do it. I am struggling with one section and need help...I don't know if it is at all clear and would like someone who is comfortable with computers and technical documentation to look at it and see if I'm on the right track. The intended audience is users that are reasonably familiar with their jobs (purchasing) and not totally incompetent at Windows.

Let me know if you're willing and I'll email you my draft. Thanks in advance.

I turned my email on in my profile. I've written or edited about 100 software manuals in the last decade. I'd be happy to look.

Thank you I3! It's on its way.

I would be willing to look at it as well, although I have not written anything along the lines of I3's experience.

jeniwren, as a former purchasing agent, and a former writer of training manuals for a custom software system - I think I might be in a position to help ya. [Wink]

OK, I read it tonight (well, this morning.. [Big Grin] ), adn it seemed pretty clear to me, and I have never worked in the field.

As long as it is an overview rather than a specific guide it looks great! I don't know how to place an order after reading it, but I know that there is a system to automate the order process, and what steps the order would go through.

Hope that helps!

Kwea

Did it help?

It will, I think, yes, thank you. Your feedback of what you understood from the writing helped very much for thinking a bit about additional description I think might be necessary. Would you mind proofing it again when I have actual screen shots and step-by-steps?

Thanks again for the feedback the way you did it. It's great to know what you learned out of it so I know if I've been accurately clear. I wasn't, quite, so I have to figure out a way to fix it. Not sure how yet, but I'll think about it more fully in the shower tomorrow morning, and will probably have a solution before I get out. (Showers are wonderful make-your-mind-work sorts of places, I think.)
